So far enjoying the game but find it rather poorly optimized. Cpus seem to have a harder time processing it than other games with much more demanding graphics.

Redeems the series? ...Maybe.

I played XIII : I liked the combat mechanics but the story bored me. It felt awful.
Went through XIII-2 : Tried my best to get through it. At times almost painful.

But this one, I liked. The story and some characters made me cringe several times but overall I feel it was well done.
The pace of the game and mechanics were all right. I found the ending to be satisfying and it wrapped the whole thing neatly. Almost made me forget how much I disliked them.

Something to note is how glad I was to find out about the Last Ones; a mechanics that makes it so that once you've killed a certain amount of a given enemy, you fight an "uber" version of it and then you see them no more.
Not as good as the "No Ramdom Encounter" ability (but found early enough in the game to make it relevant) that I miss from the older Final Fantasy games but still a nice take on it.

Visually appealing. Music tracks weren't particularly memorable but it took back the good ones from the FFXIII.
Too many pointless garbs and the distribution of enemies is pretty limited. Some of them have strategies but most fights felt brainless. Going around the map isn't such a time waster, though. It is also nice that you can get very strong without any grinding.

Overall I give it a thumbs up. Throughout it all, I had fun.

This game is quite excellent. You can get lost in all its mechanics at first but you eventually pick it all up and start having real fun. Things are slow, however, so you'll be kept busy for a very long time.
And the game gets updated with new content ever once in awhile. It never ends.
