Stop reading the reviews. Stop checking whether you'll like this game. THROW YOUR MONEY AT SEGA.

This game is sheer brilliance. From the unique story line that constantly throws curve-balls, insane facial animations and models, gorgeous and heart-felt voice acting, satisfying and fun combat, exceptional world-building, and of course the unstoppable humor. I haven't laughed through a game quite as much as Yakuza LaD. Kasuga is hilarious, if completely unintentionally as he supports his friends, only to be completely overshadowed by the somewhat subtle cackle-fest that is the in-game world. The plays on so many different properties of Japanese video game history is so fun and done extremely well. Nothing is over the top, and the game plays so smoothly.

My only criticism of the game is that even though it's a new take on JRPG's of old like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, the instances of text boxes rather than full dialogue, especially in the middle of quests that have full dialogue already built in, is a bit of a bummer. But that is an extreme nit-pick as this game is utter satisfaction and joy.

I have been sold on the Yakuza franchise from this game alone. So again, BUY THIS GAME. Don't wait for a sale, don't think about it overnight. BUY IT. RIGHT NOW.

What a horrible experience on PC. Rockstar is known for their terrible PC ports, but I had a decent time with GTAV, and I've heard nothing but great things about RDR2, so I picked it up during a sale. 90 minutes into the game and it's too much for me to deal with. Although the game is GORGEOUS, what's the point if you can't really play it?

-Horse controls are WILDLY randomized. You'll be riding during a mission and all of a sudden your horse will pull to the left and do a gigantic oval, to which the person in front of you yells "what are you doing?!", so the only real way to ride is to hold shift and just watch, but even then, this will randomly change when the game needs you to do something.

-Shooting is fun, but getting there is a mess. Early in the game, you're tasked with killing wolves and defending an injured friend while using a shotgun, but no matter how hard you try, Arthur won't take the shotgun out and aim until the wolves are already on you, and boom, you're dead. Other times, you'll randomly fire from the hip whilst aiming down sights. The game doesn't even explain the whole X system to auto target and empty a clip, at least not the first time it happened for me.

-Looped missions blocking progress forcing you to restart, i.e. eating LOTS of extra time. There's a checkpoint system in the game, but it's basically no good in the early stages. During a mission to rob a train (okay, cool this will be fun!), you end up having to run and jump onto it, and then have to pull someone up that rolled off. The game doesn't make it clear AT ALL which mouse button you need to push, if you need to hold it, etc. so he died which was a failure. I rebooted from the checkpoint, which then went into a strange scene that automatically failed again. Over and over. So if you want to retry the mission, you have to load the ENTIRE thing back up and burn all the cinematic portions of riding to the train. It's great the first time, but good gods does it burn a LOT of time.

-Horrible tutorials on buttons. As mentioned above with the fiasco of the mouse button, the game is NOT clear whatsoever which mouse button is which, or whether you need to hold something down or simply press it, leading to many awkward situations. During a mission of needing to rope someone, it never explains that you need to hold the mouse button WHILST hitting F to hog-tie them. This also caused the issue with the mission above.

I really like the feel of this game, and I would say the cinematic nature is BETTER than GTA by a long shot, but at this rate, it would be more enjoyable and less time consuming to watch a Western movie.

Surprisingly well done. Mad Max brings satisfying driving, Batman-style combat, and excellent world building. The voice acting is top-notch, and upgrading your Angel Combustion feels satisfying. There's some great campiness as well. Satisfying enough to bring me back 6 years after release and finish it.
