I have complicated feelings about LISA.

On one hand- this is one of the games that got me into game development. Its innovative approach to rpgmaker combat and exploration put it head-and-shoulders above other, similar games, and its story is very, very good. It's not the kind of game I feel that I can recommend to everyone, but for the right people, it is perfect- brutal, unforgiving, darkly comical...
One-of-a-kind.

That being said.

The "definitive edition" suffers deeply- it sometimes feels as though this expansion forgets what made the original game great. The move to Unity has left the flow of combat feeling just off enough to be irritating, and the lack of rights to Kadokawa's RPGmaker sound effects have ended up leaving the game's punchy and impactful soundscape rather barren.
The new sound effects- ESPECIALLY the sound effects for falling, taking damage, and damaging enemies- are simply. Less. They lack the weight of the originals.
The new party member cutscenes are nice. The new secrets are... interesting. The combat balancing is welcome. But I don't know if it's worth what was lost.

If it's your first time playing LISA, I'd recommend playing the original RPGmaker release first. It's included with the Unity port and well-worth your time, blemishes and all.
