It's good early on, before you've bought many new product licenses. Once you get further into the new product lists it becomes Moving Boxes Simulator. Needs some level of automation. Hopefully it'll be better with a year or so's worth of updates. Don't regret paying for it but would recommend waiting a bit.

Just...No.

I'll be honest: I have a TON of hours in SR1. It's in my Top 5, easy. I carry around my stuff in a SR messenger bag. I recommend the game to everyone with even a small chance of it being their jam. I am a die-hard fan.

But this is not a Slime Rancher game. It feels like a proof-of-concept for the idea of SR. Maybe a content-light demo. It's the bare bones basics of 1 in a unicornpukecore world that's way too easy to get lost in. I understand that it's Early Access but I still feel like over a year in we should have much more in the way of plot, goals to chase, something (other than slimes) to collect...SOMETHING.

I'll check it out again in a couple years. Just play 1 til then. I will be.

The vast majority of my time in this game was spent in the demo. At first glance this game is a Recettear-like; something I've been dying for. I love the initial gameplay loop of diving, catching fish/gathering ingredients and running the restaurant. Its fun, calming and engaging. A great time waster. The collection side-quests in the background are just a little bonus.

Then the full game released and the actual plot happened. It went from a fun, chill capitalism sim to a confusing wanna-be RPG with major illusion of choice issues. I'm too busy faffing about for the Sea People to do the fun parts anymore. And there are a ton of small genre jumps in the form of mini-games that are either poorly explained or tied to characters I give no craps about because most of the characters in this game are utter jerks. Seriously, I think the cat is the only character in this game who never insults Dave. Its not funny.

I wish I could go back to the demo. I just wanna play restaurant supplier.

Started it looking to kill 15 minutes while waiting on work stuff. An hour later a coworker was yelling at me, I'd died 3 different ways and I didn't want to go back to doing stupid employment things because I wanted to see other ways to die.

Definitely worth playing. 9/10

This game has taken over my life. 11/10, definitely recomend.
