This is my honest experience. I played Paper Mario TTYD and Bug Fables back to back. Both for the first time. I loved TTYD, I immediately saw why others loved it so much, and I was upset that Nintendo didn't want to make more Paper Mario games in that style. Then I played bug fables, and about three chapters in I realized I liked it a lot more.

Bug fables is an incredible game that surpasses its inspiration and stands on its own two feet. The music is perfect. The characters are complex. And the combat is tactical and difficult. Don't miss out on this gem.

One of the best MMOs out there. It has a fantastic story (The shadowbringers expansions set a new high for the game), fun gameplay, and tons of content. Unlike most other MMOs you can play every class in the game on one character.

Early Access Review
Very useful tool for quickly creating battle maps for your online campaigns. I use it all the time. It could do with more objects and textures but it is early access so I'll give it a pass on that front.

This game went from one with infinite progression to one with no progression and it's depressing because I was really looking forward to it. As it stands I have no reason to play it.

For the first area the game is very fun. You pick your class (and specialization if you're near a town) and set off for adventure. You'll have a blast just running around, killing stuff and seeing what you can find. The core combat in cube world is quite good, dodging out of the way of big attacks, firing off your special abilities. It's fun. Although it does create a sort of paradox where the hardest hitting enemies are actually the weakest because they have a huge windup before their attack which you can easily dodge but faster attacking enemies cannot be dodged.

So you run around, killing stuff but then you realize "wait a second, my level isn't going up." After depopulating an area you're still level 1. And you realize there is no xp bar nor do the enemies say they give you xp when they are killed like in any other RPG. Your main source of progression is gear, weapons and armor. They work on a scale of level 1-5. Because of this, field enemies almost don't have a purpose anymore. Sure they can drop gear sometimes but you'd be better off looking for loot in dungeons or world events.

So you get better and better gear and by this point, maybe you want to explore outside of the starting area. That snow region to the north looks nice. So you walk over there are you realize something. All your gear has become level 0. It's now worse than level 1 gear. Your gear resets in every region. You have to start over from the beginning. That is, unless you get + gear which can be carried over between regions. But even that gear will become worthless if you travel too far from the region you got it in. It also has a ludicrously low drop rate. I only got one piece in my 12 hours playing the game and some people have played for longer and gotten nothing.

Not only does gear reset in every region but your transportation options do too. As you explore around the starting area you get the reins, which allow you to ride pets, the boat which lets you move at a tolerable speed across water, and the hanglider which has been horrifically nerfed since alpha. None of these carry over between regions. Which means you cannot cross the ocean because the swimming speed is so slow and as soon as you leave your regions borders, the boat disappears. It also means it takes an eternity to walk across a new region without your mount. Strangely enough, in every town there's a bird that can take you to any part of the map, no matter how far away, for a fee. It's a game with a massive open world that discourages exploration.

It's now that I realize I never said how you level up in the game. On the inventory screen it does tell you that you have a level. I stopped playing before I gained a single level because I was bored with the game but I do know how you level up. You have to delve into an insanely hard dungeon that not every region has and retrieve an artifact. Each artifact gives you one level. And what do you get for doing this? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! You get tiny increases to your mobility stats, like swimming a little faster.

Having to start from zero every new region really kills any enjoyment you can have with the game. I wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of other games that don't feel like they're wasting your time.

It's not good at all. The premise is great. You're an invincible super being, flying around and protecting cities from aliens, but the execution is poor. The graphics leave a lot to be desired but that is not my main complaint. It has unresponsive motion controls and is just a chore to play. Just shooting your basic blast is a pain. The game tells you to hold the button and release while pushing your hand forward to shoot the blast. That is a bald-faced lie. You can just hold the button and shake your hand forward to shoot.

As you play you get access to more powers like the big city-destroying laser and time stop. Time stop and the laser use a very similar gesture. That causes problems when you're trying to hit a fast moving enemy and accidentally fail the mission because your laser destroyed the city. It is so unresponsive, the game becomes unplayable after you get the time stop upgrade and actually have to use it. Also the cooldown on these abilities is tucked away in the very very top left of your vision. You can barely see it.

The game should be wish fulfillment, games like GORN are still somewhat difficult while making you feel powerful. This game makes you feel like you're threading a needle and failing. The ships have such small weakpoints and shift around so fast that it takes the fun out of shooting them. Some of them move so fast you need the aforementioned time slowing power which, in addition to barely working, takes like 5 seconds to start up, meaning the thing has already zipped away and you have to fly off to go find it again, probably overshooting it because the flying controls are slippery as hell.

As great as the concept is. It's not worth it. I'm glad I was able to get my money back.

I have the minimum specs and an oculus rift s. It's probably partially my fault for the problems I've encountered with this game but besides that. This game very quickly becomes not fun to play. It's fun to jump, slide around, and slash someone with a sword. It's not fun that the throwing weapons just straight up don't work and the handguns seem to jam for no reason.

The throwing weapon controls are abysmal. Hold to prime it and then release while swinging forward to throw it. Except that half the time, when you swing forward and release, nothing happens. This has nothing to do with frame drops. Even in the base area where there are no enemies you can barely throw these things so you don't have a snowball's chance in hell to actually use them in a firefight.

Second of all, when you finally do manage to throw it, it shoots straight into the ground. The game is never clear on where you're supposed to let go of the throwing weapon. The only time I ever got it to shoot straight was when I was bending my wrist back so far as to be uncomfortable and even then it was inconsistent.

Inconsistency defines this game. I noticed during a particularly intense battle that I was point my guns at the enemy, and pressing the trigger but nothing was happening. I checked and I still had full ammo. (A brief aside but reloading in this game is the worst. You're supposed to shake the controller down to do it, but the sensitivity is so low you have to practically shake your headset off for it to work.) I tried to replicate this jamming after the fight was over and it still happened but to a lesser degree. The guns have a rate of fire that is slower than you can press the trigger of course but it's inconsistent. The rate of fire varied based on the game's temperment.
