Very fun cute puzzle plat-former. The visuals are gorgeous and there are a LOT of neat puzzles and mechanics. Exploration is satisfying and there is quite a bit of post game content if more cryptic puzzles are you style. If you liked Tunic you will probably like this.

Game is incredible fun

This is my 2023 game of the year over both Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur's Gate 3.

The premise is fairly simple, there is a princess and you are here to slay her. But everything isn't as black and white as the absolutely gorgeous art style. The music is incredible and helps build the atmosphere and tension. The sound effects are gratuitous and improve that atmosphere even further.

The two main standouts are the writing and the voice acting. The writing can jump between horrifying, hilarious and philosophical rather quickly and yet the game pulls it off. Part of this is the astounding performance by the two voice actors, Johnathan Sims and Nichole Goodnight. The range of their voice acting really sells all the various scenarios that can occur.

While the game is horror it isn't a jump scare simulator like Five Nights at Freddy's or other horror games like that. It is pure unnerving atmosphere and visceral gore. And when I say visceral I mean it, do not play this game if you are faint of heart.

The game is fairly short on a first play through, about 2-4 hours depending on certain choices you make and how much dialogue you skip but even so there is a LOT of content and I highly recommend a second play through as you can see completely unique things you hadn't seen at all in your first.

I have been playing this game since early access began. Even though I have been playing it on and off this entire time I feel like the Tactical Response update made the game feel complete. A new class, old class rebalencing and new zed abilities have shaken the game up enough for me. There are definately things to be added in the future, classes, zeds, bosses, guns etc. but right now is when I feel like I can recomend the game to my friends and not have to warn them about problems with the game.
