Make me pay more for this game. There's too much to do.

Generation Zero has potential, but at the moment, it doesn't have anything beyond the first 4-5 hours. You start out on a fairly small starting island and you can make your way to the mainland, problem is, by the time you make it to the mainland, you've seen everything the game has to offer. Missions are repetitive, the different classifications of enemy robots don't offer anything new to combat. I was insanely bored after just 6 hours into this game, and the rest of the hours I spent were just laughing at how hilariously de-synced the multiplayer gets with friends. Also for the love of god devs, stop fixing obscure bugs when half the pools of water you jump into get you softlocked, there are much bigger issues.

I hope that one day this review can be changed to a positive.

I honestly can't say anything different that the constructive negative reviews haven't already said. Just wait until modders add back all the cut alpha content and remove region locking before you buy.

Cube World Alpha: 8/10
Cube World Beta: 2/10

It's a shame really, I wanted to love Cube World so badly ever since I bought it back in 2013.

Forager is definitely a unique take on the exploration and crafting genre, although there's a few negatives you should know about before buying this game.

  • "Open World" is a stretch, there is a fairly linear progression system in which you buy the next plot of land on the surprisingly small map. You'll likely find yourself hitting the edge of the map and wishing there was more to explore.

  • Combat is a joke, there was never a time where I struggled with any of the enemies or bosses, they're all incredibly squishy and have obvious tells to when they will attack.

  • RNG. This is just a personal peeve of mine but I figure it's worth mentioning. There are various relics with a very low chance of fishing/digging up, and there is a set for each biome. Digging them up isn't necessarily hard, but fishing them up can take forever, even with luck potions and 20+ fishing traps. Having these items required for weapon upgrades is frustrating. Having to farm for Skill Orbs because the blood shrine didn't give you the combat choice for an achievement is also annoying. Just have the thing give it to you after 3 consecutive sacrifices or something.

  • Lack of endgame content. You just hit the end without realizing it and all of a sudden there's absolutely nothing to do. All those tool upgrades you just spent an hour farming for don't have any use.

  • Skill locked. Almost every structure in Forager is locked behind skills, as you gain more XP and levels, the further levels cost more and more XP. To add on to this, not every skill you unlock gives you a structure, and not every structure skill is particularly fun or interesting, and you can only see one skill ahead of what you have. So you might end up having to grind quite a bit to unlock certain structures if you chose an unconventional skill path. I personally think a better way to implement this would be: "Have X out of Y amount of skills in Z tree, to unlock structures A, B, and C."

  • Money. It has no use after 5 hours. After you buy all the land, there's nothing to buy except a few items that you might want for convenience every now and then at the market, and those don't cost more than 80K (Drones) at the VERY most. That might sound like a lot, but to put things in perspective, I had 2.5M by the time I decided to close the game.

That being said, I can't deny that I was hooked on this game for 10+ CONSECUTIVE hours. It was addicting and I would recommend it if you need to waste a good 10-20 hours. Do yourself a favour and wait until it's on sale though, the price is a bit steep.

6.5/10: Good, but not Great

I've only played this game for a few hours but from what I can tell it's highly enjoyable, and I can very easily see someone playing hundreds if not thousands of hours in it.
