Death Stranding is one of the most unique experiences in a game that I've played. It is a wholly Kojima game with many Kojima-isms (4th wall breaking, celebrity cameos, callbacks to Metal Gear Solid).

The gameplay is centered around taking packages from one location to another. That's it. However, the way that you plan your routes and utilize the structures that you can build in the game are where the fun is to be had. I often found myself becoming the road builder of the game in order to make taking packages between some of the main facilities an easy task.

The game also has a pseudo-online feature (reminiscent of Dark Souls). Other players that are a part of your world instance (you won't see them in the game) are able to build and leave behind structures and equipment that will also show up in your world. You are able to reward these players with virtual likes (does nothing, but is a cool mechanic to show how beloved you are by the community).

Another great aspect about this game in particular is the port. Along with Kojima's previous entry on Steam (Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain), this game got the A+ treatment on its PC port. I encountered no glitches, frame rate stuttering, or any other performance related issues. This game runs especially well if you have a RTX GPU with DLSS enabled.

If you're looking for a relaxing game to play with unique, fleshed out characters, a desolate and depressing yet beautiful world, absolutely fantastic soundtrack, and a thought provoking story that is very well written, executed, and explained, then look no further.

Vehicle controls are awful though.
