I'll be blunt, Banished is a fun time teaser from the puzzle genre. But there is not so much do in the game as it is fairly easy and there is no goal. The key to create a good village is simple, "spoiler" build at a really slow phase and use the time speed button to speed up. And you will have an map full of stuff in an hour or more.
Still I would recommend the game as it is fun to see the builders do building stuff and feel the minor frustration of when sickness or fire tries to destroy the world.
Banished reminds me of the old times, when we had the first Simcity or Serf City/The settlers (Google it young ones). Those were great games back then and still is!

Good things:
+ Nice player camera
+ Easy to understand menu’s
+ Decent graphic and good performance
+ Could be modded to greatness?!
+ Relaxing, no enemies

Bad:
- Game is “mentally” short
- Short on stuff to build (Old Simcity had more buildings and control.)
- No goal, really, no goal
(Like playing Serf City without enemies or friends. Or Simcity without newspapers.)
