Early Access Review
Complete improvement on the first title. Simple to play with a hard to master meta to be found within the game. Challenging. Arcade like thrill with the countless powerups and replayability. Fun with friends or solo. Can not recommend enough.

As the title says Verdun is a game set in WW1 Between the years of 1914-1918, I enjoy this game not only for its impressive historical accuracy and theme but also for what the game has to offer gameplay wise.

Gameplay wise the gunplay is a more advanced system than the average FPS today. It relys on a slightly more advanced aiming system similar to that of Red Orchestra, bullet drop physics are present so accounting for bullet drop is a nice touch of realism, overall the mostly rifle based combat just feels weighty and satisfying when you crack off that longshot and headshot someone from across the trenchlines.

Progression wise there is alot to unlock, squads offer a very nice diversity to the game, each squad you can level individually and get special perks for doing so. (My favorite being that the uniforms slowly change as you level up your squad from their 1914 versions all the way up to how soldiers looked in those types of squads by 1918, all historically accurate. A small thing, but a really cool thing to me as a history nerd.)

Individual progression is as simple as gaining points to unlock a new rank, new ranks unlock new classes and subclasses (Although you have to spend career points to unlock them) Each class and subclass has a unique twist on it in relation to the squad type which is very nice to help keep the gameplay fresh.

Overall I thoroughly enjoy this game, when I went into it thinking I was going to find a backwater early access title with lackluster FPS mechanics, but Verdun is different and for that I am thankful. Now it is a fully released title with wonderfully dedicated developers (Who mind you during access, usually had updates EVERY 3 DAYS. Which is insane.) who are continuing to work on this game. They plan to release multiple FREE DLC packs that will add even more content to the game ranging from weapons and maps, to new squads and game modes. I'm fully confident in the Verdun team to deliver more great content to an already outstanding game, and for you this gives only more reason to buy it now.

Support this team, support this game, they truely deserve it. Verdun is one of my favorite titles of this year and I wish for many more people to know about this game, because it deserves it.
