Great little gem. I think the devs here understood perfectly witch are the classical flaws of the city building genre and added a layer of complexity but just adding the time factor and the procedural randomness for many elements. The feel of rush may be something that people don't link to this genre, but i wanna challenge myself, i'm not playing lego, and that's why i enjoy the modern roguelike wave. I appreciate the stability of the early access version right now, it looks and feel like a complete game. I love the fact that you need an active brain and you need to adapt to the situations; the difficulty levels are very well balanced too. i won my first map at viceroy level pretty shaken inside. knowing the mechanics let you prepare to what MAY come and i did not noticed "impossible situations", if you cannot obtain a certain resource in anyway there's always trading. in this it feels like a gigantic modern boardgame. my only criticism is towards graphics, i hate this warcrafty cartoonish fantasy style but hey, rarely this is something that bothers me. i paid 16 euro for it and i don't regret it, not a single one.

I hate you game! why are you so punitive? you keep hitting me on my kidneys and yet every time i die i feel it's my fault.

i deeply hate you, i'm feeling compelled to keep trying till I'll be able to beat you and that's going to have a serious impact on my life and for that i hate you so much. aaaaaaaaargh!!!!!

UPDATE. I managed to finish the game solo after 40 hours of play, coop is really cool too! ehi, 40 HOURS, i've spent here the same amount of time as dark souls 3!!! maybe i'm not too good at this but hey, it's quite an experience, it's like finishing risk of rain. totally worth the time spent.

The best i'm-lonely-and-so-terribly-scared-to-get-outside-home-at-night experience ever.

The survival mechanics are basic, the player understand what to do in a short time but what makes this game great is the stuff that can make you feel. Authentic fear when the avatar is chill, desire to force yourself to learn the huge and many maps because it's the only thing that grant you a little safety, absolute loneliness and frustration when lost in the storm 50 meters from home unable to find it. Beyond a videogame, a way to understand and to enjoy slowness and to appreciate what you got in life.

The developers are also clearly good guys, working for free updating this title as promised since the beginning. I would buy a bad sequel just to support them.

Sadly, it lacks every mechanic that makes a roguelike likeable. Boat control are bad, crafting is not balanced. i don't like it, nonono

Brilliant and really deep, totally underrated. I played it for a "massive" amount of hours. This little gem defined a new paradigm for tower defense genre being both strategic and addictive and really different from the other ones. Recommended with love

Is there someone who actually wrote a review about this not mentioning "Final Fantasy Tactics"?

The game is fine, of course it steals a bit here a bit there... and of course 1C is NOT Nintendo and basically any chapter from Fire Emblem is vastly superior in both gameplay and writing but hey, i still appreciate this stuff.

I think that this is the kind of game where you as a game designer should not allow players to brutally grind levels by repeating maps, that's the main flaw i can see because in fact the player needs to limit himself. not so good. it adds layers of customizability but that makes difficluty level impossible to balance and that's the reason Fire Emblem is locked. hard but rewarding. Anyway, it still have it's own personality and deserves my friendship.

one of the most addictive twin shooter with roguelite randomized stages ever. i never find myself bored. i could f**k up my life if i didn't have self-control. Absolute must, i love it. Coop in LAN with Nuclear Throne Together mod is something remarkable, such a shame it's not in vanilla game.

unbelievable game that never becomes boring. pretty good even for beginners to the grand strategy genre (it's really simpler than crusader kings). one of the most satisfying experience ever as a player

Very subtle game, and very addicting. It's part of the "new wave" of the nostalgic "rogue-likes" mixed up with a simple (but not stupid) tactical turn based rpg. The AI is not very bright but this is part of the fun because you are going to be waved by tons of enemies and in most of the occasions a single mistake can ruin a run lasted hours in a single turn. so, even at "normal" difficulty the game hits hard on your kidneys and needs absolute concentration. casual gamers will find it frustrating but we're better off without them. looking forward for updates and bugfixes.
