I really enjoyed this point-and-click adventure! The Paris setting is very atmospheric, and the art is beautiful. The puzzles aren’t very hard, especially if you play adventure games regularly. However, I quite enjoyed the relaxed pace; it’s perfect for a rainy autumn evening. The music is great and fits the mood perfectly. I wish the story was a bit longer; the protagonist, Monique, is interesting and has the potential to be developed further. For the price, you get a fair amount of content, in my opinion, and it’s notable to say that I didn’t encounter any bugs, which sadly has become a common thing in recent releases. You can tell that a lot of thought and love went into this game, so I’m very glad to have supported the developers.

Yousei is the third installment in the Jisei series, and it’s the best so far. The writing feels very well thought out, and the different routes all add something truly unique to the story. Our favorite voice actors return to reprise their roles – we get to see Chance again! Yousei adds many new features such as a map to fast travel to different places and optional glasses (yay!) for all the characters. However, it raises many questions, and I can’t wait to finally get answers in a fourth installment.

Kansei is the second installment in the Jisei series, and you can tell that they improved on almost every aspect of the first game. Kansei is much longer than Jisei, we learn more about our group of gifted teenagers, and we get an idea of the overarching storyline. Of course, you also get to guess who’s the killer this time, and there are multiple endings to discover. Kansei features a bigger cast of great English voice actors, and one cannot help but fall in love with these characters – especially with Li Mei!

Jisei is one of the first visual novels I ever played back in the day. It’s a well-written “whodunit” story about a mysterious guy waking up in a coffee shop. The English voice acting is very professional, and it really helps to bring these characters to life. Jisei is a good introduction and makes you want more. Don’t forget to play the epilogue – you’re in for a surprise!

Full disclosure: I have worked on this game as a translator and editor. However, I have been a huge fan of this series since the very first installment back in 2001, which means I kinda grew up with Valnar, Asgar, and Alaine. The characters are very complex and so is this dark story about vampires, loss, and tragedies. Asgar is probably my favorite character; he is sarcastic, evil, and totally insane. Valnar is easy to identify with as he seems to be the most grounded protagonist and he is quite open about his emotions. Alaine is our witty and strong female lead and I cannot help but feel sympathy for her background story. We will meet many more interesting characters in this game and each of them has their own agenda.

Compared to the first two main games, Vampires Dawn 3: The Crimson Realm has improved in almost every aspect. The pixel art is gorgeous and the new character portraits are very detailed; the combat system is well designed; and most importantly the characters seem to develop even more and the story takes some unexpected turns.

If you are into vampires (the bloody and gruesome type) or like dark fantasy stories with interesting characters, the Vampires Dawn series is definitely a must!

Typical Nightmare is a truly scary game that deals with serious topics and offers a great narrative. The game has some unique environments and relies more on old-school horror instead of your typical (HA!) jump scares. So if you like narrative adventures with a psychological twist, give this a go!

Demetrios is a funny hilarious point & click game and a unique addition to the genre. It's a well-written adventure game and you will spend hours upon hours admiring the little details of this BIG cynical adventure. What I really liked about the game is that it's self-ironic and does not take itself too seriously. Bjorn is a really … unlikely hero and it's fun to listen to his comments and conversations with other weird people. If you enjoy cynical (and kind of vulgar) humor, you will probably enjoy Demetrios!
