Imagine allowing people to buy your game in regions that PSN is not supported. Now Sony is trying to push PSN and making it mandatory so those people who are unable to have a PSN account are screwed. This is utter trash and once more the corpos are shoving their horrid ideas where they're not welcomed.

Un-democractic notions must be corrected; show solidarity in our displeasure towards this decision.

Edit: As all Helldivers know, we only cease fighting once the war is won. This battle for democracy is won but we ever remain vigilant. For Liberty!

I fight for the immortal Emperor and his throne. Heresy will never rest and so I shall not either. For the Emperor, for the Golden Throne!

Preamble

Victoria 3, a game by the both famous and infamous Paradox Development Studio, published by their parent company Paradox Interactive. Despite the intense hype that surrounded the game, with each and every game announcement heralding the holding of breath and cries of 'Vicky 3!?', it does appear that in true PDX fashion, the ball was dropped with this release.

The Good
The whole improving your economy and standard of living facet is one of the stronger points of V3. Truthfully if this was disappointing, then the game would have been better off in a garbage bin. To tell the truth, seeing a backwater nation such as Australia grow into an economic powerhouse with a high standard of living is rather satisfying.

Diplomatic plays are interesting, to say the least. The idea of a nation who has no allegiance or alliance with another being able to get involved due to their interest in the region is well done enough for me to give it a pass.

The Bad

The UI is unbelievably obtuse and terrible to navigate. Compare it to a game such as Stellaris or Crusader Kings 3 and you will find it is a step down.

Warfare is in the absolute worst state any modern PDX game has had it be in. While the idea of having mostly autonomous warfare is fine by me, it needs severe work in order for it to be even serviceable.

Managing a larger nation with a large immigrant pull such as America rapidly becomes a tedious game of 'I have far too many peasants so my radicals are constantly going up.' It becomes manageable once your economy is strong enough to support constant constructions but until then it is rather headfrying and annoying to deal with.

In true Paradox fashion, there are a plethora of bugs to be found and played around with. Some may be useful for achievement runs, others are simply annoying and can cost a run.

Mid and late game performance in multiplayer is abysmal. I have a rather solid PC and when I wasn't hosting, I would consistently be suffering intense input delay due to me being 5 or so days behind.

Closing Statements

While Victoria 3 is a game where fun can be had, there are glaring issues that need to be resolved before I can safely recommend the game to anyone. Naturally this means there will be DLC galore from Paradox, with price tags probably not equivalent to the content provided. But given time to grow, I do believe Victoria 3 can become greater than it is now - providing Paradox gives it the love and care it needs.

However, as it is, I can NOT recommend this game to someone else to purchase it. The price point combined with the inevitable DLC deluge makes me hesitant to do such.

You can send your palicos and palamutes on Meowcenary missions and when you do, they fly away on ninja kites.

Progression sucks but it's decently fun. Gunplay is solid which is a positive. If I could give it a mixed I would.

Foreword

Kenshi is one of those games that you will either adore or find head-frying and be unable to wrap your head around it. If you enjoy TRUE freeform, sandbox gameplay with a world that feels alive (for the most part) and not a lick of handholding anywhere to be found in that sandpit, well, you just might enjoy Kenshi.

I've got a bunch of stuff to cover, so read on!

The Good
  • This is the definitive sandbox experience. You thought Skyrim was a sandbox? Play Kenshi. When you've built your squad of 10 martial artists who run around the desert leap kicking off cannibals' heads, you will know true joy.
  • While the actual roleplaying aspects are a little light, you are entirely able to define your own story. Want to just live in town and be a citizen? You can do it. Want to strike out, build your own city and fend off bandits, cannibals and zealots? You can do that also.
  • Modding is alive in well in Kenshi. Genesis is a rather well fleshed out mod that adds to where Kenshi is light.

The Bad
  • Massive learning curve. Things will kick your teeth in(but if you can survive you will come out stronger and more capable.)
  • Very punitive combat. Both because everything is stronger, smarter and more skilled than you and because you've got to buy medkits which early game can be a big drain on your coffers.
  • There is a lack of any meaningful story. That is not to say there isn't lore, there is plenty. But if you're expecting to find a large, overarching story to keep you engaged, look elsewhere.

Closing Statements

Kenshi doesn't hold your hand, doesn't pull on its punches and likes to kick you when you're down. But if you have the grit (and a little bit of luck) to stand up after getting your legs broken (or lopped off), you just might survive and maybe even thrive in this alternate universe Sengoku Jidai era Japan.

I really hope the spaghetti code that is the world trade system makes it into Vicky III.
