At first I thought the item was just subterranean sticking with the theme and they just decided to go with Lion, but it makes sense when you delve deeper. Last year Kunkka got it because he's an admiral and TI7 was an aquatic theme, whereas this year Lion got it because he's... subterranean? The biggest oversight with Dark Willow is that she's unbelievably sexy. I can't go on a hour of my day without thinking about plowing that tight wooden ass.
