This game is dark. And I don't mean the subject matter (which is dark, sure, but not really that important). It's impossible to see where you are going. You have a source of light, but it doesn't really illuminate anything to be useful, and it blocks your vision if you're looking down, which is incredibly frustrating, considering so much of the game is trying to figure out which places are safe to walk. My playthrough was filled with falling down holes that I couldn't see because I couldn't look down or see where I was going.

There are several interesting mechanics. For example, the crawling/walking mechanic could have been neat, but crawling's basically useless, considering you'll need the little light you have to avoid being completely blind, which is another way the darkness of the game ruins something.

I can't really say anything about the level design. Everything felt randomly strewn together but that's because, again, the game is too dark to really get a good feel for the layout of the levels.

There were some nice design decisions. I liked the idea of the house/forest area. If only I could have seen more to fully appreciate it.

I really wish I could like this game, but there are some serious issues that keep me from giving it a positive review.

I liked the main cast, they were funny in their interactions, albeit with fairly weak voice acting. The visuals are nice and there's a fair amount of content to the game.

Beyond that, it starts to fall apart. The game is pretty grind heavy. It might be that I was missing something obvious, but I found that I had to constantly replay through earlier chapters of the game to train up my units. This is made more frustrating in that the only way to gain EXP is for the unit to defeat an enemy. There's no EXP from healing your own units, which makes it frustrating to train up the clerics, who aren't known for their damage outputs.
In regards to the actual combat, the main issue that I had with it is that the levels don't really feel well-designed. There are a lot of walls and such that require rotating the map, which makes navigating and moving units feel slower than it should be.

All in all, I want to like this game, and perhaps there is something I'm missing, but it's too grind-heavy and clunky in gameplay for me to have enjoyed it.

This game is annoying. There are a lot of moments where you're looking at black screen, unable to do anything except listening to the annoying protagonist and antagonist gripe at each other. They never delve into any topics that would be interesting to listen to, so these segments are painful to sit through.

Not only that, but the platforming segments in the game are clunky and frustrating. You have to make precise jumps to avoid banging your head against platforms that are barely above your head and falling to your death. It's not fun, and it doesn't add anything to the game.

The only thing this game has going for it is that it look all right, but that doesn't mean much when pretty much everything else is bad.

Early Access Review
Unepic is a bad game. The title is surprisingly fitting in that there is nothing epic about this game. The gameplay is lackluster, being bogged down by clunky menus and controls that are require too much work to get a good configurations. The story is shoddy, filled with unlikable characters and completely unfunny references to the stereotypical nerdy works.

Is there potential for this game? Well, yeah, any game has potential. But this one requires a lot of work. The controls need to be made more responsive and smooth, as opposed to the slow controls that currently exist. As the game is now, it seems like a shovelware version of the Castlevania series.

Team Fortress 2 is one heck of an FPS. This game has no campaign mode, no in-game information regarding the story, or anything along these lines. However, it doesn't need these elements. The multiplayer is the only thing it needs, and it excels at this.

TF2 offers an extraordinary amount of diversity. The most obvious of which are the nine classes. Each class requires an incredibly different playstyle than any other, all being unique with their own roles to play. The Scout can run around and distract opponents, while the Heavy tanks hits like no other. For this reason, the need for a team becomes obvious. Each class has distinct weaknesses that can be covered by the other classes. Thus the name, TEAM Fortress 2.

However, there's more than just the nine classes to add to the diversity. Each class also has a slew of weapons that, while functioning similar, have enough of a difference to each that they can completely change the way you play a class. For example, the Direct Hit rocket launcher of the Soldier punishes the usual tactic of using the splash damage of the rocket in exchange for a powerful hit when connecting with the opponent. Each class has quite a few options with how they can play.

TF2's reliance on your team makes each game play differently. Being on a heavily offensive team is much different than being on a team full of Engineers or Demomen. This requires the player to adapt and constantly need to adjust to fill any holes on the team. This is not a game where you can just fight individually and expect to succeed. This involves far more strategy and thought than the gameplay would initially have you believe.

Speaking of the gameplay, it is simply fantastic. The controls are smooth, logical, and can fit any level of desired precision. There is, on a full server, a constant level of action from spawn up until death, and there's never a boring moment.

TF2 is a game that must be experienced to understand just how excellent it is. This game is addicting, and never becomes dull like other FPS games. Since it is now free, there is no reason to not at least give it a try.
