Initial runs..

Overall.. for $6.. hell can't really go too wrong here. Very tense FPS with reasonably good bots - they even try to flank you. Although they seem to give themselves up a bit with a lot of running.. if they spot you then they seem to slow down to get good shots and do some maneuvering but their running around at times to find you often makes them easier to detect and ambush.

I hate online PvP play due to ALL FPS being taken over by cheaters that sooner or later (especially if the devs don't step up to do something about cheaters and just dump the problem on a 3rd party and then forget about it) so without bots I won't even bother with any FPS these days. That way if the community turns cancerous I still have something to play.

Now a few much needed features.. the ability to replay the same map and settings without the next map being chosen for you at random - especially if your playing offline solo vs bots. A handicap aid for no sight hip aiming and for the grenade throws (the hardcore aiming is fine and could be opted on and off for PvP mode , fun vs realism.. both options are good to have and open up a wider player base). A balancing option for variable numbers of bots/players per side. Example, solo vs 2, 4, etc.. bots or other players. Smoke grenades would be cool.. and of course any and all grenades would be optional per any match. GLs would be nice.. again optional.

MORE MAPS.. and bigger maps.. many of the maps are total melees at present.. nothing giant needed, but at least some variety of tiny, small, and medium maps.. maybe with selectable sections and/or border sizes so one map could fit all options - BF2 did that pretty well.

CSGO needed a good FPS competitor with good bots but with the FPS fun of COD MW3 (excellent solo survival engine) and the Insuragence engine that has excellent bots and very hardcore theme... Vengeance is a serious potential candidate that can cover a range of those engines good points. Don't lose the fun by feature creeping every "I want this".. there is a good base foundation of an excellent FPS here.. build on it a bit at a time and with a **constructive** no BS and mature acting community. With that this engine can have a fantastic future by not driving off those that just want to have some fun without the BS.

Thanks ... :)

Mixed bag... fun game but LOTS of AI bugs. Super planes that barely put up, if any fight, too many game play holes that end up being cheats, etc.. Not sure if the devs are even paying attention to this game any longer as I am not seeing any replies. The $7.99 of the WW1 game that gave unlimited "premium" missions was removed and replaced with a 1 year option.. bad idea if you ask me. The WW1 game also does not have nearly as many AI bugs. Also some of the aircraft choices are very odd while leaving out highly recognizable and aircraft of the war like the P-38, P-47, cannon armed Mosquito, and many others.. several variants for some aircraft but lacking on others that would have made more historical sense. The Japanese options for aircraft is also severely lacking.

If you buy the premium missions and all aircraft you spend about $16.. the WW1 version is worth that $16.. lots of fun, but the WW2 version is not.. not with all the bugs and unintended cheats left in. I only paid the $8 to get all the aircraft unlocked.

Overall rating.. a C+, very borderline positive review. The WW1 version is an easy B+.

Absolute kick ass game (for me single player).. with a WIDE range of weapons, random challenges per map sector, excellent graphics without tons of clutter, 3 levels of campaigns and 4 difficulty levels, great for young kids (arcade violence with no blood and guts), wicked gameplay and fun explosions, strategy of choices for weapons and tactics mixed in, a wide array of enemy units, etc.. just flat out fun. Highly recommended.. already completed numerous campaigns and still playing as I try all sorts of weapons and tactics. One of the few games on my list that is EXTREMELY addictive and worth the purchase. :-)

So far so good.. been playing dogfights in arcade mode. Pummeling enemy planes is rather satisfying with good graphics and sound effects. Planes seem to take a lot of damage - but - hitting them at shorter ranges is seems to be far more effective. In arcade mode the flight dynamics are even more realistic, but still fun, then some of the other arcade fighter games like Gamblers and 1942. Cockpit mode also does feel a bit like a real flight sim. From what I have seen so far this is a good air combat sim/game. A nice blend of a realistic sim and arcade game which equals a rare and positive mix of fun for those that don't want the 50 page manual and having to learn a real plane and yet don't want to get TOO arcadish. Those are my initial thoughts so far with the air to air combat portion fo the game. Well worth the $10 discounted price IMHO.. even if just to fly the quick air combat battles. Trying the campaigns very soon.

Early Access Review
Well.. got 2 hours on the game, this is definitely a furious furball firefight. This is a very shoot and move type of game engine with liquid smooth graphics. I did not see any glitches or apparent bugs during game play. Good variety of weapons with no P2W crap, you get access to all the weapons immediately. Any ammo, mini-perks, health/armor fixes, etc.. are available to all players and they respawn every few seconds. The TDM maps are a bit small, some medium and large maps for those game modes would be good for bigger battles. Configurable boot camp mode with bots with different quality levels for the bots, adjustable numbers of bots, and most all games and game modes available. End result.. great game for the single and multiplayer FPS gamer.

Overall a fun game for FPS freaks and definitely better then some of the other FPS games out there.

Follow ups below.. scroll down for more! ;)

Thanks

A simple no frills off-shoot very tactical version of Panzer General. AI is not too bad.. clean interface, very easy to pick up and learn, and fun. Not a huge variety of units but enough to make you think about your tactics. Not a bad game for a cheap price.

Overall a good flight sim, althought I think the EIII is much more maneuverable then it should be, especially when given an AI novice pilot.

Sounds could be better.. the MGs are drowned out by the engine noise and I have not seen any seperate volume sliders for effects, engine, etc..

A good range of options like autorudder, aiming help, autopilot, easy flight, etc.. to help pilots get used to the aircraft.

Would be nice to have a "batch" discount for all aircraft to be included instead of nickle and diming each one. I waited for a discount sale on the addons and got 4 of them. Without discount all the STEAM addons would have been quite expensive. I remember RB3D had more planes and was far cheaper.. around $40 when it was released. Now its on STEAM for far less and if you have a Glide wrapper the graphics are fairly good for an old title.

For a more modern version of RB3D this ROF title is a reasonable move up for graphics, reasonable authenticity, and interface. If they made a batch sale for all aircraft and addons I think it would get a lot more attention, especially considering it is already several years old.

Overall I do recommend it since you can play it with a few planes for free and then decide which addons to purchase from there.

Thanks.

Ok.. played for about 2 hours.. solo duel and 4vs4...

Overall a fun game, but inches to maneuver as there are water traps all over. Athough this does to increasae the challenge for maneuvering it is also a bit aggrivating as often foilage and buildings block your view of water right behind a corner or bush that is covering a drop off.

The range of weapons is very cool.. although I have not figured out how much effect the added camo has (branches and foilage stuff all over your tank) in terms of avoiding enemy AI fire, or how to use the mines. Also when your zapped and in the "spectator mode" it would be nice to be able to have a high vantage point and be able to jump tank to tank, maybe even take over another tank in your AI team.

I would recommend adding a few maps with less water traps though, or mabye less chance to go in the drink in easy mode. Also, the AI is very good at making wicked shots.. which I think should be watered down slightly in the easy mode.

Bottom line, a cool simple quick and dirty 3rd person tank combat.. with a good range of maps and nice sound effects and graphics. Kind of like a 3rd person "Battle Zone" type of personality using hover tanks for a dirt cheap price.

Thanks
