HOI 4 vs War in the East:

HOI 4:
Abstracted number of men in your army with a limited OOB.
Limited number of Generals.
Weird Supply system.

War in the East:
Precise number of men in an amazing OOB.
Every single General that fought on the Eastern Front including the Axis Minors and they can be dimissed or shot for bad performance.
Complex and a more realistic supply system. You even need to change the Russian rail gauge to German standards to keep supplies flowing! (Not as good as War in the West tho).

HOI 4 does however focus on the whole war and has naval combat. However, the level of detail is amazing in War in the East and if you like detail you will love this game!

It is a great game when you actually play it. Most of my play time is just watching a radar show three blips and then waiting 10 minutes to load in and then my opponent or I crash and I have to start the process again. However, when it works it is quite fun except when RNJesus decides you have been a bad person and your whole squad gets wiped out by a single grenade or all of your shots from a Panther can not penetrate a Pershing's armour.

6/10 would wait in lobby again
