Don't let the hate brigaders trick you, if you are a fan of RTS games with an addictive and varied multiplayer experience then this game is for you. A lot of these negative reviews are being written by bitter company of heroes 2 fans, whom have no real argument. As to why these reviews claim company of heroes 3 is inferior to the second game, they employ talking points about the "bad for 2023 graphics" or the "poor quality audio" or whatever minor nitpick they deem is game ruining. As someone whose timeline with this franchise goes back to 2009 with the beta for Company of Heroes Online (which sadly shut down but also caused me to pick up the original CoH1+expansions), I remember falling in love with this franchise because of how exciting and novel gameplay features they debuted such as: squad system, retreating and victory point control elements amongst other features that are now considered staples of relic RTS games and other similar titles. But wait a second. What if I told you that most of these features were also in Dawn of War 1? And that a bunch of people back in the day said that CoH1 sucked because it was just a ww2 reskin of Dawn of War 1? This group of people i'm describing are not that different from the hate brigade we see today review bombing CoH3. In fact, the example i've laid out with the idea that CoH1=DoW1 but WW2 is just the beginning of this odd trend with RTS franchise fanboys that I can recognize. When Dawn of War 2 came out a lot of people hated on it as well because they claimed that it was just a watered down version of Dawn of War 1, or that it was (funnily enough) "just Company of Heroes but in Space". Now let's talk about company of heroes 2. Boy, what a disaster that game was on release. That game was almost widely considered to be hot garbage on release in comparison to a company of heroes 1 which had multiple expansion packs released by the 2013 release date of company of heroes 2. I could write an entirely separate essay about the issues CoH2 had during its early lifetime, but that would just detract from my current point here, so instead i'll just give a few short examples to illustrate how the issues with company of heroes 3 at release are quite minor compared to the ones with CoH2. CoH2 released with just two factions in comparison to the CoH1+xpacks four factions. Company of Heroes 2 also had many ridiculous balance issues and weird feature retcons at release, including no functional distance or accuracy system for units until months after release. CoH2 was also widely criticized at the time for including the in-game store and microtransactions, and many people considered the concept of commanders that you can purchase were "Pay-to-Win". Now thats just a few cherry picked examples from Company of Heroes 2, and well you probably didn't come here to read about why CoH2 sucked at release. You're here to read about whether Company of Heroes 3 sucks at release. Well Heres the TL;DR: Company of Heroes 3 is a relatively safe and conservative sequel to a franchise that is considered uniquely great in the Real Time Strategy/Real Time Tactics genre. If you are new to the franchise, this title will be more friendly for you to learn than any previous one, as it contains many anti-frustration features and no-brainer additions that provide more opportunity for focusing on your tactics and strategy as opposed to mindless micromanagement compared to previous titles. If you are a returning fan of Company of Heroes then I would recommend you purchase this game if you enjoyed the Company of Heroes 1 style of gameplay over the Company of Heroes 2 style, as the US and Wehrmacht factions are more like their COH1 counterpart than the CoH2 versions. Also you get to do all the things you wish you could've done in previous titles, such as send your squads into battle ontop of tanks and hitch heavy weapon crews to trucks and other vehicles to haul them where they are needed. basically this game is 5/7 perfect score

When this game first came out, i thought it was possibly the most dissapointing release of the year. However since its release, its become a game good enough to be warranted a real sequel to CoH1, if you want a real tactical RTS thats not all about macro and micro and build orders, get this game
