Really short but fun experience, won't spoil much as it was quite fun diving in blind but it's free so absolutely give it a shot!

So I put a bunch of hours into the demo and finally the full game has arrived and with a hefty 40% discount so I decided to dive straight in and just like the demo the full version doesn't disappoint. More of the same that was in the demo but with a bunch more levels!

Now this game has an interesting take in that each level is basically you running a new store but each level also slowly adds more and more complexities to said store, to begin with you start with self checkouts and all you really need to do is focus on your stock workers and then the next level you're getting loans and cashiers and in the 3rd level you now have full control over the store opening times AND even get to control the temperature of the store! I can't imagine what level 10 will have you doing.

I'm not much further into the game yet but I love it so far, I'm a huge fan of this type of game and even with the very simple art style there is so much depth and love here it's perfect. I'm unsure if the developer is going to support the game much more now that it's released but if there are more updates to come I would hope for a more "Sandbox" styled mode where you can actually customise the store and make it your own with your own rule sets and competition etc without having to choose a specific level.

My only complaints so far are that there's no way to prioritise what stock workers will put out so on days where X is in demand I can't put that as a primary focus for my workers, there should also be a way to prioritise the least worked items so if there's less carrots on shelf then they'll work them etc instead of what seems like random at the moment. Also an "Exit Only" door would be nice too as it seems at the moment you can only create entrances, that way you can have exits near the cashiers and entrances elsewhere.

For £5 on sale you definitely can't go wrong and if you're a fan of management/tycoon games then £8 is also a great price for the content you'll get out of it.

Update - So I thought i'd give my opinion on this new update and it's very tough to still give it a positive recommendation because the new items absolutely kill the fun almost completely.

Double or nothing is a great mode however with these new items you can put yourself or the dealer into impossible to win scenarios purely on whatever items you have. For example I had a a round where the dealer had 1 hp left, we got a bunch of items and inside I got a magnifying glass and a polarity changer, in that scenario I cannot lose. If the shell is blank I change it and fire, if the shell is live I just fire it. This completely ruins a lot of the fun and excitement that the original game had and it feels like way too much thought into "balancing" was put into it.

The Adrenaline aswell is a fun tool however when the AI can just steal your items to create a scenario like the one above it completely kills any of the enjoyment and you just feel completely cheated.

I urge for the developer to add the option to have a "Classic" mode without these items.

A fantastic game with a great atmosphere, I wasn't going to buy re-buy it since I bought it when it came out on Itch but considering they kept the low price (Steam takes a larger cut so they only take slightly more from raising it on Steam) and that I wanted to support the developer since he makes some fantastic games.

If you're unsure on the game just watch the first 2 minutes of a playthrough, if the atmosphere, style and gameplay doesn't hook you then you definitely won't get your money out of it since a normal playthrough takes about 10-15 minutes and that's it, it has however been greatly extended with the "Double or Nothing" mode which infinitely extends the replayability aslong as the gameplay is something you enjoy.

I really hope more items and modes get added in the future, allowing for people to play with the original sets of items or allowing the additional ones. Mods too would be a great addition to spice up the gameplay.

There's not much else to say about the game without spoiling it, if you don't want to spend the extra on Steam there is always the Itch version although it's uncertain how much content more that version will receive however for the lower price on there you get your money's worth already.

The worst thing about this game is the fact I didn't hear about it sooner. This game is an absolute gem, the atmosphere and creativity behind it is incredible. I urge you to not read anything about this game and just play the demo, don't read the description or look at any more reviews and play the demo if you haven't already. After 20 minutes I was absolutely hooked and bought it.

I'm only a few hours in it but I fear the game won't have as much content as I want from it but I can't complain as what's here already is perfect, I can only hope there is more to come, perhaps a fully randomly generated world? Just a way to add even more replayabilty to the game. As I believe the game is not random

It seems like the developer is adding more content so I can't wait to see future updates!

Updated - So I've rebought the game on Xbox so that I could play it without immense stuttering and while the frame rate is still a mess it's absolutely playable and I'm glad I did because this game is a masterpiece, incredible combat with a tonne of variety, world is beautiful and detailed and the story, at least 20 hours in, (though I've done a lot of side quests) is not as engaging as something like Cyberpunk or Red Dead but it's perfect for what it needs to do.

The pawns dialogue is great for making the characters seem alive although the constant referring to ladders should be disabled in town areas. The fact they also will refer to things their master has done is such a cool way to connect people's playthroughs.

The microtransactions are still just as terrible of an addition, rift crystals are very hard to come by and while I do enjoy walking from place to place buying a port crystal to place in certain areas that lack one would definitely be convenient for some.

The frame rate on console shows how bad it was for me on PC as even the severe drops aren't as stuttery as it is on console.

Overall I've not been this engrossed in a game since RDR 2 and this is an absolute must buy if you have a console or if your PC can handle it.

I still cannot recommend it in its current state on here as it's just not the same experience, once they patch the game up it will absolutely be worth it.

So disappointing, I've been a fan of the original since they showed it off and I got to play the demo on my 360, loved the game even if I was never that good at it as a kid, was beyond hyped to see it getting a sequel and couldn't wait to finally play a modern version of it. And for what it's worth there is definitely a fun game here, the beginning sequence ran "acceptably" and the combat is solid.

But that's where the fun ended, the game held a relatively smooth frame rate up until the first camp and as soon as i got my pawn the game just tanked to 30fps, near unplayable in towns despite lowering all settings, outside of camp it can get up to 55fps but can fluctuate so much it's so awful, even locking to 30 just makes the game even more unplayable and worse.

I really hope they push out some patches soon to fix it so I can re-buy the game, but for now I'm refunding.

On a final note the micro transactions are hilariously awful, stating that the game was so good it didn't need a fast travel only to sell it as a micro transaction...

Early Access Review
Honestly there is a fun game here despite the simplistic art style, it's just very rough around the edges at the moment. I'm about 30 minutes into one save and I think my game is now permanently glitched, I tried to sell a cashier desk with a cashier on it and it crashed and now reloading the previous save there is a chunk of my casino missing and some of the areas have disappeared and now it doesn't seem like the pathing is working properly as trying to place in the area just past where the chunk is missing is very random on if it will let me place anything, even foundations. And when I did manage to put my cashiers there no one would go over there and the queues wouldn't let me place them properly either.

For an early access title bugs are expected so I'm not rating it too harshly and I do love what is here, the UI is a bit wonky and all over the place, certain UI elements don't disapear and obstruct your view or sometimes you have to press escape to exit a menu. Just some QOL improvements are needed that will go a long way.

The art style is also very very very basic but that doesn't bother me as long as the gameplay is solid and bar the glitches there is a solid experience here.

Overall there seems to be a decent amount of content here, I'll probably jump back to it once it's a bit more polished up but for the price it's definitely worth checking out.

Short game that got a price increase because they are making a movie for it (and added some cheats?), not a fan of games raising their prices (which David has done to a couple other titles as well) without actually adding to the base game substantially, not worth the additional cost although the concept and ideas are solid, worth it on sale if you haven't seen anything about it.

Response - That is incorrect, Squirrel Stapler and the Pony game both released in collections and had price increases.

Amazing start but needs a whole lot more meat to it.

When shooting films animations will just auto loop and there's no way to stop that so if you choose a cool animation of someone crouching they will repeatedly crouch so you have to pan the camera away unless it's an animation that loops smoothly. A nice addition to minimize this is the video editor which you can trim videos (but not split them! this is a must feature please add) and add sound effects.

An absolute must aswell is A LOT more animations, there's a lot here but it needs a lot of smaller animations, like standing up, sleeping, walking etc etc. I tried to do a few scenes where someone got CPR and then stood up but immediately hit a brick wall because there isn't a standing up animation.

I'm also unsure of what could be added or researched down the line but Text and Voice (TTS or Mic) would be a massive feature to add and would be amazing as telling a story isn't really possible, it's just a few scenes that you can't really make anything out of, you can't tell a cool story here at all which is a massive let down.

Very hopeful for this game and I hope they add a tonne more to it!

Really interesting and unique game, I saw clips of this ages ago and forgot about it until now. Definitely a great start but needs a lot of work, for starters playing on mouse and keyboard is just by design for some reason abysmal, using up arrow key to access your phone and then enter to advance dialogue are some of the bizarre choices. The game doesn't seem to have a pause/options menu either atleast none that can be accessed in game.

The game does want you to play with gamepad but for some reason I find it to be the worst thing ever, extremely floaty and has a weird delay to it from what I've found, something I've never experienced in anything else. Mouse and keyboard would be completely fine if not for the weird choices.

Another awful thing is the automatic camera centering meaning you have to keep pushing your mouse up to make it stay pointing up.

Otherwise this is a really unique game that I absolutely love the style of and I look forward to seeing more of it.
