Mechanics:
Die in 3 hits = keeps me enthralled, have to constantly be aware of your position.
Simple combos = get old fast, lasting effect is how they position you.
No tutorial = spent most of my time without half the combos.
Enemies = even halfway through the game, the enemy variety is great. The enemies look, sound, and fight differently.

Story:
Whiplash = at beginning, I had no idea where, why, or whay I was doing. Halfway in, I barely understood more than that.

Design:
Character models = I don't know, I barely see them in detail anyway.
Gesamtkuntzwerk = the game is a cohesive whole, but it is cohesive around the idea of providing a sterile and underpowered experience (relative to the show). There is no soul on display here.
Ludonarattive Dissonance = this game is not similar to the narrative we know in the RWBY show. Characters cannot or do not do what they do in the show. The ludonarrative discobiscuits is strong with this one.

I'm a huge RWBY fan, but this is a game that is more boring than its Early Access version, which was not exactly a high bar.
I seriously considered refunding this game.
It seems like this game was developed in a vacuum. The only soul was Lindsay saying "Oooooh yeah" at the first title card.
