To give you context I have 780hrs at the time of writing on steam and probably another 1000hrs from the pre-steam launcher.
I really really know this game, and have been dabbling since before tanks were a thing even, I have the "Old Guard" title.
it is really a special concept and a game I used to love, having sunk probably $150-$200 into it for premium vehicles.

while sure the game always had it's imperfections like any other it was a solid fun unique experience that was fair and rewarding to engage with and had me wanting to come back for more--But, come 2020 for whatever reasons, maybe covid gave the game a user base boom or perhaps it was a lack of genuine competition but Gaijin began to care less and less about the user's experience and more and more about making money off of them, becoming incredibly egotistical, greedy and dismissive towards the community until it has reached a tipping point where you can no longer realistically play the game for free past the halfway progression point of any tree and you likely wont have much fun doing it anyhow due to the laundry list of problems plaguing the game.

Avoid at all costs until the developer lose their ego, greed and bias.

EDIT: idk whether it is a purely automated process within Steam or if Gaijin succeeded in pushing them to do it (I am sure they were pushing regardless) but all reviews left between may 20th 2023-may 24th 2023 were marked as "offtopic" but I assure you they were not, this review bomb was not botted, it is the honest result of a community that has had their patience depleted.

Update, Gaijin are once again returning to their scummy ways with the new Air Superiority update

Several nations are receiving new end of the tree tanks that are copy pastes of what they had before with the name of something newer slapped on to rationalize adding a eighth bracket to the ground vehicle trees (XP costs to unlock vehicles and their upgrades increase with every bracket) and put these new tanks, as well as a lot of old ones that used to be placed in lower brackets, in this new bracket lengthening the already absurdly lengthy grind.
Additionally the Russian vehicles being added to this update, the T-90M and SU-27 are looking like they are going to be significantly better than anything any other tree in the game will be getting.

The texture greyscaling is wrong though, it has some shading so you just can't get an entire range of brighter colors like white.
