Good stuff. Even if you haven't played since you were a teenager like myself the game doesn't even force you to learn all the new mechanics - if you have the right hands in your card it'll let you know when you can use them.

Super fun game. There's definitely some clear meta survivors + killers. Every game without fail has the sword man + dash lady survivors so perhaps other characters should be made more viable. Graphics are great, matchmaking is fast and you learn the ropes pretty quick.

I picked up the game and I'm really enjoying it. Here's some comparisons vs. London 2012:

1. Excellent character customization. You can edit each individual part of your body. Tons of hairstyles and about 60 voices. Lipstick, facial hair and nose length.. It's all here. You can also customize your whole country's team. There are even character codes you can share to allow other people to use your creations.
2. The graphics are gorgeous. Highly detailed real Japanese stadiums. The engine seems a bit glitchy though, it crashes windows explorer and locks your mouse cursor. I can't use Discord on my 2nd monitor because of it.
3. 80 countries vs. 37 in London. Kenya will rise.
4. The selection of games will either be a positive or a negative for you. There's no Javelin, 200m, 400m, high jump, discus, shot put, triple jump, diving etc. But they've added Hammer Toss, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Judo, Sports Climbing, BMX and Rugby Sevens. The game design & controls I feel are much improved to London. Easier to play but harder to master. Games are shorter than London besides the team ones.
5. Online is great. There's 3 rotating games on a ranked schedule every 30 minutes. This restriction keeps lobbies full. You can also play any of the other games online any time, but you won't earn ranks. I've had no games DCed but I found Baseball very laggy. No single player only games like in London.
6. Replayability is superb. You earn points by winning events, and can spend them on outfits and lateral ability upgrades (power/speed/technique). Ranked mode is a huge motivator too. There's no DLC or microtransactions.
7. No licensed music from Afrojack, Avicii, Gorillaz, Pitbull, Bieber etc like London had. It's all generic. Probably an improvement if you're an egg boi streamer.
8. London 2012 was $60 at release, this is $40. However PC codes of London 2012 now cost hundreds of dollars due to their rarity. I think it's fair to say Tokyo 2020 is much better value.

I recommend this game 100%, and I'm only playing solo. If you have some mates it is a no-brainer, excellent party game. Buy it now while the community is still learning how to play the games and you'll have the best time.
