Do you like rogue-lites? Do you like good soundtracks? Do you like a good storyline? If so, you should give this game a shot. Supergiant Games has done an excellent job expanding on the gameplay style they first introduced in Bastion with a faster paced, tighter game.

This game used to be a fantastic co-operative game which varying levels of difficulties and several types of play. Each build tree brought something uniquely different to the crew. Then Overkill realized how profitable DLCs were, they began milking their players.

Their players albeit not happy about these decisions, understood that the long term support and fresh enjoyable content isn't unreasonable to require a pricetag. Then they got lazy, including weapons that provide little if nothing of value (e.g. Gage Chivalry Pack), and then weapons that are almost entirely necessary, (e.g. The OVERKILL Pack or Gage Sniper Pack).

The final straw has been the introduction of safes and drills. Not only are these skins genuinely unattractive, Overkill felt the need to incorporate Pay 2 Win by incorporating stats on top of it. I understand the stats are the only way these skins would sell given how genuinely unattractive they are. But Overkill has shown their hand, microtransactions are here to stay and anyone who thinks otherwise should be shown the door.

I enjoyed the hours I got out of this game, I enjoyed the co-op aspect of it. But I regret buying the most recent DLC and supporting this game beyond jumping the shark. Thank you for the fun while it lasted, I'm doubtful to ever follow the game any further. I'm certainly never supporting Overkill Studios until they find new maangement and direction.
