Was a fun game, but recent updates broke a lot of custom content and overall made the game feel too different.

Was requested to expand upon it, so here i go. (I'll add more as time goes on).

Originally this mod was simply RO1 with a westernfront feel added to it (Think HOTW on RO2)
You had tanks spawn in your spawn, everyone spawned at their own spawn or a captured objective, Limited classes per team. Americans and British vs Germany as usual. I was in the 29th Infantry Division for most of my play time on this game. The 29th had A LOT of custom maps, plugins and such for this game prior to it's recent updates.

I haven't played this game recently, but from what i remeber it basically turned the game into squad, and you can just play Post-Scriptum for that now. I plan to play this mod again so i can properly compare the old and new versions.

It's not just a game.. It's life.. A cult following.. you just CAN'T STOP PLAYING.

played this mod on and off for nearly a decade now. thousands of hours sunk into it. I wouldn't change it for anything.

If you like shooting games, get this, play the tutorial, join a server and go ham. Just.. Don't take the CV.

Edit: There are reviews saying the community is toxic, this WAS true, and still is for a few people. but over the past few months we have had some devoted individuals who have been hosting drafts every weekend, so if you feel like playing and meeting veterans who wont scream at you (some will but ignore them) come join us at the weekend on X's hardcore empires!

Early Access Review
I'm going to review this game for what it is and will it be later (from what i've seen while playing.

the "Story" as we have been shown and i have seen:
You are a young man who stops taking his happy pills, and must escape from this hell hole of an island. - In short

Much of the story itself has been left out, which is good becuase it allows the developers to show off all the game has without providing an unfinished story, some may disagree and say there is story, but i believe they kept in enough to lay a foundation for your character, but not develop him past the inital introduction.

The gameplay at the moment is pretty solid, for what there is.

Each main island is randomly generated for the most part, with some areas that always spawn and some areas that randomise for quests.

Speaking of quests, there are about 15 or so quests i would say at the moment, and they vary on the world spawn, as theyre are different kinds of bridges that can spawn in place of ones you may encounter on your first playthrough.

Moving back on to the islands, each island has "houses" that spawn on them (of varying quality depending on the island) and these houses are enterable contain the best loot for that island usually, they also contain beds, traps (also island dependant) and sometimes books you can pickup, which provide passive bonuses to your character (such as more damage, better durability for crafted weapons etc.) They also, surprisingly enough, usually have inhabitants, which don't take kindly to tresspassers and theifs.

Each island contains a safe house most of the time with some supplies in, a personal safe (which is a global storage box that is persistant in every safehouse, same inventory no matter what.) And sometimes a crafting bench or two, which is required for the more complex craftables in the game.

The crafting system is ok and improving greatly (if you compare the public and beta branches, theyre quite different.) and has a multitude of unlockable recipies (which are unlocked by finding notes, completeing quests or obtaining all the items required to craft that item, then the recipie appears for some).

The movement is really smooth and fun, i could probably spend hours parkouring around the starting island, there are a few bugs with the movement, which is down to the "ledge grab" mechanics, which can result in getting stuck in things like stairs and whatnot, but its mostly occured in wellington (the joy island).

The engine it runs on is UE4, which makes the game look stunning while being pretty well optimised, i'm personally able to run it on max with my I5 4670K and R9380 with little to no issues.

the TLDR; Ill give the game, as it is a solid 9/10, its fun to play, looks great, and you can mess around with console commands if your on the dev branch, which i recommend as it has alot of fixed stuff as well as new stuff.

i will be writing an ultimate guide on this game too! look out for that.

now this wont be a full reveiw upon first writing but im going over the baisics of what i want to say ( becuase ive got a dam lot to say about this game i mean look at this intro :D )

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series as always been my favourite series of games for a number of reasons, whether it is the crazy amount of weird and wonderful guns, suits and items, or the weird and whacky storyline, i love almost everything about this game , and i will say why now.

Story:
one of my favourite parts about the stalker games is the story lines that always seem to have a big twist at the end or something like that. Anyway, the story in CoP is really quite cool how they made it all play out, one of the best bits is being able to see how you affected every other stalkers life while you were in the zone at the end of the game with about 20 or so slides telling you about what happend after you left the zone.

Weaponry:
With a decent selection of weaponry for all play styles, this game can make you play through it many times just so you can play around with the guns and ammo types ( two for each gun except the PKM, Sniper rifles and the RPG ). from shotguns to expermental gaus rifles, this game unmodded provided me with atleast 70 hours before i even thought about modding it.

Suits / Armour:
Stalker has system whereby you can wear suits that affect your carry weight, protection for various envriomental hazards, gunfire and can effect your mobility. CoP by far offers the most diverse Suit system by allowing the player to (with most suits) mix and match head gear and main body suits depending on your play style, (gas masks for artifact hunters, military helmets for combat, and high-end mixes of both). There is a massive variety of upgrades that can completley changes the suits performance (Servos on an exoskeleton, alloying you to sprint).

Upgrading your equipment:
CoP allows you to collect tool kits and gie them to technicians, who will reward you with the ability to upgrade your guns and suits more (and a small cash reward). You can turn a AK-74 into a laser fast firing assault cannon, or make it a more accurate mid range sniper.

still wip
