Fallout NV is one of the richest games I've ever come across in terms of story and atmosphere. I have played probably several hundred hours before I got it on Steam, and I am still discovering new ways to solve certain quests now, a decade after it came out. There are colourful NPCs, funny details, clever clues, varied quests, a deep story hidden beneath the surface and more player choice than I think I've ever come across in any other RPG. All of the DLCs are (in my opinion) well worth the purchase and bring four very distinct extra settings to the world. Even if you go through all that, it is highly moddable and you can probably find more extra content for it than one can get through in a lifetime. Fallout NV sits solidly, almost 10 years after it came out, still as one of my top games of all time.

That being said, it's not flawless. It was extremely rushed (18 months in development in total) and as a result a lot of content had to be cut. The "evil" playthrough, while richer than most evil playthroughs in old or semi-old RPGs is nevertheless very noticably limited in scope. Many different paths lead to the same result. The radio has about 8 different songs. About one third of NPCs are voiced by Liam O'Brien.

Despite all of that, however, I frequently threaten friends with violence if they tell me they haven't played it yet because deep down, I know I am doing them a favor by incentivizing them towards playing Fallout New Vegas.
