Fantastic game. The art is gorgeous and the AI and animation makes for some of the most exciting and intricate interactions with NPCs i've ever seen. Soundtrack is also incredible, and it reacts to the player's interactions with the environment. Its kind of like a mix between the game windosill, hollow knight, and super metroid, all wrapped up in a deadly post-apocalyptic setting. Theres also a few mods out there that are fun to try as well.

I was always interested in the style and subject matter of the xcom games, but I never was into the turn-based nature of it or the RNG to hit something. This scratches that itch and more, plus a little halo and resident evil thrown in.

In this game, you have direct control over a small squad of either soldiers, genetically modified supersoldiers, cyborgs, or robots, and command them in an attempt to combat a deadly monstrous virus that is hellbent on consuming all biological matter. You can outfit your squad with gear and weapons that can be tailored to each individual mission for better chances of survival. You can directly protect your squad by raining hellfire down from the skies in your heli-base. Personally, I enjoy having a killer cyborg sniper shelling every inch of the battlefield with explosive anti-material rounds.

There are a few nitpicks with the ui/controls, mainly the fact that gear is picked up and swapped in the inventory with a weird arrow directional system and that there isn't a whole lot of use of squad formations or advanced pathing, but it really isn't something that significantly brings down the game. Awesome game overall with tons of fun mechanics. Would love to see some online component if possible!

The atmosphere in this game is amazing. Impeccable world-building. A nice mix of action and horror.
