My gameplay time is how long it takes to complete the game with all achivements , game is basically factorio light, so a bit more chill, but as other say can get a bit repetitive when each mission basically demands you re-setup all the first stages of production again, but I liked it in that it let me get better each time making the production lines more compact.

If you try to 'blueprint' factory and make a very good first design, you will probably get bored as you each time is just repeating, but if you just chill, take it as it goes, its alright. Factorio if you a tired from work.

Games okay, it took about 15 hours to finish the campaign on the second hardest difficulty. The non-campaign missions are just 2 missions that are so so.

As many other reviews state, I think this would be a much easier recommend if there was some extra missions that was a wave based game mode, having some pick and choose defences. I'll go on a rant in case some developer reads.

A great mission I wish this had was a hold the wall mission or hold a base mission, unlimited waves until you die, there are the big mortar guns, but you can only place them at the very beginning and you only get a couple, each section of the base focuses on certain things, some areas its a choke, so nades and flames are good, other area is open to encourage sniper / rifle and then there is a mixed in middle.

The reason to do this is then if you don't like any of those you can then build your strong mortar defences on the section you don't like at the start of the game that will held a ton at defending it letting you focus on the other parts.

In the extra scenario, when you capture the point it gives you options between which marauder you want. In this unlimited game mode, you could have options like more supplies or more building points, so as the game progresses you can keep building your force after each wave, but the first 10 waves you maybe get like +5 supply and +3 building points, but it slowly bleeds down to you only get +3 Supply and +1 building point as the game gets further in.

a good amount of potential to add some good timesink.

Also mods would be great for this, I want to do helms deep with bugs.

My refund was denied, I'm too busy to follow all their steps just for approval so I'm going to slam this review out instead.

Buggy - you will fall through the map on spawn, you will spawn without primary weapons, arrows will fly through people(you could argue this is server quality issue), horses are jank, push the convoy with supply carriages allow you supply if you get hopefully the right angle. You may fall through the map on being downed, this is just top of head from my hours playing.

Crashes - new content tenosian crashes a bunch, but the main game will also crash on occasion.

Hackers - 32v32 and there is no way to get rid of them unless the team they are on votekicks them out, so the enemy team just has to eat it in the face, so it basically kills the lobby. No custom servers so the community can run admin on them / customise settings.

Overall this game just came out on steam, but has been out for over a year and it is still in this state. As the first sentence, I tried to refund it, I think there are better games with more content available elsewhere and I got it on sale for $35AUD(40% discount) and I think I feel a bit ripped off on the content at that price. 90% of the content is cosmetics, not that many maps(I played 8 hours and cycled through the maps about 4 times not including updated maps which is maybe another 4 or so maps).

At $20 AUD I would say it is worth some fun messing around, but at full price they are asking way to much.

Overall fun for about 10 hours, I expect the player base to drop off unless they allow private / customizable servers.

TL;DR: Game is about 10 hours of good paced content, then grinding. I hope the game developers use the cash injection to really work on this product to flesh it out further which could make this game really good.

As others have said, try the demo, the demo is representative of the first 10 hours of play. It is similar in flavour of sub nautica.

Do the calculation of 10 hours of good game for the price tag of your country and see if that is of good value, the demo is maybe the first 3-4 hours(the save carries over from demo to full game)

EARLY GAME

Pacing is good, feels good to travel around and explore, you only need a few of the machines and you just upgrade them as you unlock newer versions, which keeps progress going. Since its minimal management on that end, you can explore while the number ticks up.

Exploration is alright, I will say some places can be very hard to find, as they can be just a tiny ladder in a corner, but all the main monuments are...pretty basic, go in, break barrier, take loot, go home. you go in and out maybe 3 times to collect all the loot.

LATE GAME

When you get to around the 10 hour mark, you have unlocked all the terraforming equipment, at least most of it. at that point in the game you just unlocked something for like lets say 10,000 points, that means in 10 hours you generated 10,000 points, the next unlock is like 10,000,000 points, so it goes from a game of unlocking stuff and exploring into a game of 'okay time to get to work' and you just have to start crafting a bunch of the drills and heaters and such to start bumping all your numbers up.

The problem with this is getting materials, right now to obtain the mid/late game materials, you have two options after draining the map of them, you 'summon' them from rockets, which you don't get a ton of the resources and its a manual process of going to go collect all the resources, it just isn't really 'fun' its just a chore, collect materials to build rocket, send rocket, wait for rocks, keep rough track of where they all land, go mine the rocks, repeat process. It also doesn't help that the rockets require the same resources that they are dropping, so if you collect 20 red ore, you have to use 6 to get another rocket, so you only really got 14, while spending maybe 30 minutes doing so.

The alternative is ore drills, these would be great, if not for one flaw, you place this in specific areas to get specific materials, sounds great, put the ore drill in the red cave to get red ore, sounds easy enough. The problem is these ore miners have limited space, lets say like 15, now 15 of red ore would be great, the problem is the miners don't collect JUST the red ore, they collect maybe 1 red ore for every 4 'junk' ore and you are left with 3 red ore after it has mined for 10-20 minutes.

These ore miners are not super easy to make, they take a long time to fill up, and they get filled with junk, but they are the only way to get some materials like aluminium, so you are forced to act like an errand boy, going from drill to drill, collecting resources, and dumping the junk ore into storage(or on the floor in a giant pile)

This is a pretty annoying part of the game, but the good thing is, it is an easy fix from the developers. I want the drill to just drill what I need, If I want junk ore, I can put the drill in a 'common' area and get it that way, I don't want this mix of ores. To add onto this, because the drills have to be in specific areas, those areas are pretty far apart, even with max level jets and such, just going back and forward so many damn times, I've spent most my time doing just that.

If the devs take the early access money, build up both the story more, the unlocks more and expand the exploration a bit more and maybe add a bit of teleporting so you aren't traveling so damn far to do things, this teleportation would also be good BEFORE the grind wall, so you can get to and from the drills and such easier.

overall, try the demo, it made me want to buy the game, but if you are tight for money, maybe hold off another year.

I guess i haven't reviewed this yet, and rewards are hinting i should. This game is the best resource management game ever made. If you loved the RTS ANNO series when you had to like make all the island produce certain amount of things to keep everything running well, you will love this game just the same if not much more like me. Make the right amount of production, makeing sure you production as resources and making sure the monsters die a firey death. 10/10 if you like resource management.

This review is for the men of war orgins DLC as of writing this review, reviews on the orgins page are broken so people can't post reviews

So this DLC, It does not contain any of the 'bonus' missions from men of war, which i think is about 4 missions lacking because of it. It has none of the multiplayer vs modes, like conquest and such. It is just the COOP modes and that is all. It uses the same voice acting for all the cut scenes from the orginal. The maps are basically the same, but since they made all the guns the same how they have it in assualt squad this makes the maps feel very small, it makes the defence maps much easier as now all your defending units shoot across the map. armour in men of war defence missions were hard to deal with, with your guns having low pen at range. now armour just melts to the stationary guns. Maps also seem to have increased amount of units on the map. with arsenal having 8 units instead of the 4 or 5 like men of war. some maps have increased player caps where you can play with 8 players in coop.

over all $20 for not even the full men of war remake. doesn't have the multiplayer maps, doesn't have all the single player maps, i don't think the voice acting has been updated, but it might have a few extra lines mostly orginal voice acting still. Just seems like a ripoff, i'm a BIG fan of men of war, and this has done a bad job of making a reborn, hell if you are gonna be this lazy and charge so much at least add all the maps, or add some soldiers of war maps or something. but yea for MAYBE under $10, i would say under $5 okay.

Okay since some vets of PR are complaining and Some people are a bit confused i will explain this better.

This game in its current state is a facepaced FPS similar to the game "insurgency" but with a larger engagment range. There will be close quarters to longer range little dots of people range. But At this stage that range is not very far to the final product.

The current game has you fighting Infantry vs Infantry, Fobs are easy to contruct, squad rally points(spawn points for squads) are easily put down, and last a long time. Flags are close together and fobs are destroyed by just being near them. This gamplay allows for fast paced gameplay where lonewolfing is easily achieved and can be effective, but is frowned upon. That being said, working as a squad is MUCH more effective in general and allows you to be much more ticket effective vs larger amounts of enemies.

That is the current gameplay, but the game will be going away from that in the next month and two with things like.

Vehicles, These assets can punish lone wolfing as to get from flag A to B is no longer just a single sprint away, you may need to drive from one to another to get anywhere in a timely manner, so if a squad takes a humvee and you are left alone at base with no transport, good luck trying to effective. This addition makes lonewolfs join squads even just for transport, but it also shows how being a squad can be more effective.

Fobs are currently piss easy to build, These will later require logistics brought up to contruct, slowing the construction of these key functions of the game, and making them much more valueable then they are now, which will force squads to be more wary of the defence and contruction of these, These will also then be less likely to be able to have a lone wolf be able to destroy these structures as such you will need a larger squad sized force to be able to deal with these.

Squad rally points last forever in time, and dissapear after 9 spawns or enemy overrun it (you have to be pretty close) These rallies only add about 10 seconds to your spawn vs a FOB as such they can allow for almost instant fob creation and sustained battle capablities to a squad. In PR rallies will disspear after about a minute. They are designed for regrouping, not sustained battle. Their current design is not the final design, they will change heavily over time.

The maps themselves are mostly smaller sized maps, they have released larger maps but use only a fraction of the map. They are pushing the whole server into a close quarter situation, As such it is a twitch shooter right now, But later when it changes into you having to worry about that APC sitting on that hill all the way over there you will be taking your running across open ground a bit more carefully. This will make you have to scout the hills and area before you do actions, a lonewolf wont have the benifit of so many eyes.

So over all This game is currently designed as a closer quarter about the sized of the current BF4 maps(which really is pretty small) you will run into enemies pretty quick and have a good twitch shooter experience.

In a few months this will all change(except for when the server is designed to play close quarter maps only) to a more squad based tactical shooter where tactics are seen over gunplay skill.

And side note $40 is a steep cost, it is designed to allow the kick starters a bit more room as they paid $30, if $40 is seen as to expensive for you, just don't buy it for now, but if you got cash, go nuts. i would say for $40 you are kinda buying two games, the current twitch shooter, which will evolve into a larger battlefield game, so $20 for each isn't to bad =].

So i recommend this for people who don't mind laying down the $40 you will have a good time, but don't look for super serious team work just yet, it will come, but right now it will be more of a insurgency game, then an ARMA or PR game.

****CURRENT PROBLEMS****

game is kinda buggy atm, crashes and disconnects during loading maps is a bit common, these are sure to be fixed but til they are be warned, AMD people are complaining of larger problems, but a fix seems very soon to be released. FPS in general is a bit on the lower side with FPS drops on things like smoke grenades, So be warned if you have a ♥♥♥♥ rig. But when in game, if you have the machine that can run it, it runs smooth enough during gameplay, just loading times are when you have to cross ya fingers.

****BASIC FEATURES NOT IN YET****

Just some things to think about as well before you buy. I will try to update these as things come into effect.

Things like, bipods, vaulting, swiming(you can walk under water), logistics, Resupplying from riflemen type thing, Snipers that have good long range scopes, Weapon customising(currently you just get choice of with or without acog on 2 of the classes), Weapon emplacements(.50 cal, TOWs,Motars,AA), Individual squad chat(e.g. talking to just squad 1,2 or 3), A commander, destructable walls and such, Vehicles, Grappling ropes, Fast ropes(hehe).

This is the one of the all time best RTS games, it has some balance issues, and some terrible voice acting for the single player. But its cover system and bullet penetration calculations are TOP NOTCH, worth a pick up on sale, as its online community has sadly dwindled
