Barotrauma is a sandbox with hardcore engine rules. It used to be a lot more intense for me, but the playstyles have grown horizontally and vertically and tons of variety of playtime is available. You can play mods of all sorts, pvp, campaign, spend time in the sub editor, grief submarines, spend time fixing subs, its crazy. Love this game.

I beat this game in a custom mini sub with only batteries that could only charge in stations. It was a converted hemulen with extra battery capacity.

I built an opera house submarine where people came and had plays and shows.

This is the best Sandbox out when looking at originality and freedom of playstyle.
