Really awesome, but really difficult.

This is not an arcade style game. It will, most likely, take you quite a while just to start getting ok-ish at the sim, and you will have to learn each track, but it's worth picking up and putting the time in, if you're looking for a racing sim to challenge yourself with.


Sadly, there is no single player career (and I really, really wish there was), but you are able to practice on multiple tracks and work on improving yourself and your lap times (and even sort of "race" against your own ghosts). There are also multiplayer races and practices to take part of, which are definitely fun, and certainly the best part of the game. Just do your best to race clean (and don't expect to be able to jump into a race against others and win), and you can have a great time, and even make some friends.

I spend most of my time with the game just joining in on practices with others, as it's a good way to learn good lines, and it's really nice to have other players and their lap times to compare yourself to and to give yourself a goal to work towards.


There are also a lot of mods for the game, like tracks, bikes, and rider gear cosmetics. If you're going to want to play, especially online, it's pretty much a necessity to grab, at the very least, the most popular tracks (some tracks seem to require some digging to find, but you can probably find most of them right on the official forums). You will also need a mod pack for the bikes called the OEM pack, which you can also find on the official forums.


It's a great sim with a pretty good community. Don't be afraid to hop into online practices and learn there (or ask questions).

If you're looking for a great game to play online with others, either casually or competitively, or just to have a good time with some friends, there probably isn't a better choice than Rocket League. - It's fun, fast paced, hectic, hilarious, and both challenging, yet simple, all at the same time.

It doesn't matter if you only play games that are on the simple side, or ones that are extremely difficult. It really is the sort of game that just about everyone could have a great time playing, and you don't even have to be good at it, or like sports.

The only real downside to this game, if you do intend to play online, is the terrible nature of the community (like with most online games). It's probably best just to disable both voice and text chat in the options, as almost nobody says anything of value. Even the quick-chat is highly abused and used by players mostly just to taunt and harass others.


It really is a must-buy, though, especially if you're looking for a fun game that actually has an active player base.
