It's an amazing game and one of my top 10 all time favourites. The reason I do not reccomend it is because of Steam. There is an unofficial patch that fixes most, if not all, of the issues in the game but due to Steam's way of protecting executables, it mostly doesnt work in this version.

Get it second hand in ebay or a local retail, it's a game like no other and you wont regret your time with it. If you don't mind numerous game breaking bugs and playing in 3:4 aspect ratio on your wide screen monitor, then go ahead and get the Steam version.

Beating this game is, by far, the greatest achievement in my life.
Mom always told me I'm special.

As a fan of Planescape Torment I was looking forward to this game and I wasn't disappointed.
Like its spiritual predecessor, this game is set in a unique fantasy universe- peppered with steampunk elements, imbued with a quasi-Buddhist spirituality and rife with Frankenstein-style dark horrors. It deals with soul shattering, human vessels with animal souls, cycle of death and rebirth and humanity's (Kith's) vanity to try and manipulate all of that.

Without spoiling too much, you play as a traveler caught in a much bigger game and become a Watcher. One who's capable of truly seeing folks. Their memories, their pain, their souls. But is it a blessing or a curse? And did it happen to you by accident or by your very own decisions, made in forgotten past lives (karma)? Guess you'll have to play it to find out.

The art is fantastic. The combat challenging, diverse and satisfying. Replaybility value is immense as you'll just be eager to try a rogue, barbarian, monk or any other class that was not represented by one of the companions.

Cons? You'll suffer from long and many loading screens and Obsidian being Obsidian the game is likely to crash in a myriad ways. This is the time to Switch to an 64 OS if you haven't, it will clear most of the troubles but expect some blue screens or even black (my PC is 8 years old and the most brutal crashes it suffered were by the hands of this game. I'm talking about hard reset not even doing the job- had to switch off the PSU...).

Don't let these cons prevent you from playing this one of a kind masterpiece.
