A faithful recreation of HL1, so if you ether want to try this old gem or if you want to return to it now, this is the way.

Way too short (12h foe me with exploring everything) but it´s a good game. Would have liked it to be longer with more story, and since it´s originally a tabletop RPG I dont think that it would be that hard to come up with some more campaigns.

Maybe put it up in steam workshop so that those who have some good campaigns from the original tabletop rpg can make some content?

All in all, I would recomend this game but have in mind that it´s quite short.

Shure there is some bugs, but still a huge wow factor when you get used to the game. A must try if you have a vr headset.

As I have a few hours in this game, I feel that I must give it a fair review.

Check down below for a summary!

--------------------

99% of the reviews on steam are about the P2W aspect of the game, but many fail to grasp the whole of the game.
Note that (Almost) everything in the game can be done TOTALY free, not one single penny spent on the game. But this will take time, and this is what the game is about. Having a goal and working for that.

You want a boat, check up what you are going to need for that boat and work out a plan to get it. Want a car? Plan and work.

The only thing you wont be able to get as a Free2Play is a own house/farm, this is locked behind the monthly subscription witch I can think is fair. (The game costs money to support)
Still, if you join a guild and/or a Family you can still share a house/farm, so you could still be able to use all the advantages of having a farm without owning one yourself.

The Pay2Win consept come from, from my point of view, two main points -

1: APEX
2: Marketplace

Apex is a type of, lets say currency, witch you can buy with real money. This item in game will give you 1250 credits (witch is the currency that you use to buy of themarketplace) and this item can also be sold to other players for in game gold. (your usual ingame currency)

2: The Marketplace is, as in almost every other mmorpg, an ingame shop where you can buy stuff for your character. A lot of the items from there is also able to be sold to other players ingame.

The thing to consider is that even if people are able to sell this items, the only thing they will be able to do is to progress quicker to their goal. Will it be gear, ships, houses, they will just get it a bit faster then someone that dosnt pay real money.

As an adult (age 28 with a good steady income, working 9h a day) I see no problems at all that some people want to pay real money to be able to progress faster. This is not what I want to call Pay2Win. For me that is when something is completly locked behind a paywall that no one else can get if they dont pay money. And as far as I have noticed, that isnt the case for this game.

The gameplay is solid, and it´s good pvp although the geargap between new players and old players is very high. Almost so that new players cannot compete in pvp. Still Trion is working on this and it looks like that a lot will be improved in the 4.5 patch comming this year. (2018)

The game plays like most other MMORPG, it´s a tab tageting, skillbased system. Noting really new but it´s not bad, it works really good. The crafting system is extensive, and you can go from simply farming potatoes to buildning parts for machines or crafting the best gear in the game.

A note to players who are thinking about trying the game; Some of its features are heavily dependent on RNG. If that´s not for you, you may not like this game. Shure you can get past those things by for example buying already upgraded gear, but in the end you will come by some RNG.

------------------

Summary:

As I see it the game is NOT Pay2Win in the sence that you cannot get something for real cash that someone who dosnt pay cant get. As a totaly F2P player you can still be able to get the whole experience, it just takes longer. A monthly subscription is recomended but not needed if you join a guild/family in the game. The gameplay is solid but it can be hard for new players to get into the game since the gap between veteran players and new players are high. Still the publishers are looking into this and are frequently updating the game, and in the next major patch comming this year it looks like they will make it easier to clear the gap.

A good horror game that falls a bit short in some aspects.

+
Really good atmosphere
Intresting game design, that is being a 2 year old as the player character
Intresting and sad story (Play it to the end to find out)

-
Not that frightning that I had hoped
Way to short, 90 min and the game was done (I hope they add more chapters)

Conclusion:
A nice game that has a good atmosphere through the whole game, but isn´t that scary. More like a dark story being told.
It´s a good approach when they place the player character as a toddler, witch adds to the feeling that you are helpless.

In the end I would give it 6/10.

+ Funny looking monsters

- Bad level design
- Terrible aim and weapon handling
- The story isn´t intresting at all
- Outdated graphics (well what to expect when it´s a port from a Nintendo DS game)

Summary: If you have the time and are bored you can try to put some hours in the game, or else I would recomend something else.
