Early Access Review
You have to be on cocaine to be good at this game, but it's a lot of fun.

slave knight gael and darkeater midir: the dlc. demon prince is alright too I guess, but the levels are all pretty flawed. still, worth the price for those two bosses alone

This is one of the best games I've ever played, full stop.

I'm not sure if there was anything I disliked about the game at all, to be honest. Beautiful pixel art graphics, amazing soundtrack, engaging story (and it gets pretty darn dark!) great level design... I think what needs to be stressed the most is the gameplay, tho. Everything feels so fluid. You can spend so long in the first area just messing with the mechanics, because they're just so fun. That's not even to mention the boss fights, which are easily the game's strongest points, in a game full of already strong points. Every single one uses the new and old mechanics given in creative ways. Never did I feel like i got hit by a cheapshot on any boss. The only encounters that really frustrated me was the Blocker boss (conveniently in the screenshots of the game above), which I felt was a bit too finicky with how you fight it. And with another boss (which is spoilers), it wasn't quite clear how to get them down to the ground after stunning them. But with how many bosses the game has, there's bound to be a couple not quite up to speed, and it's stunning how creative and different they all are.

What also gets me is how the method to defeating bosses is something to be inferred by the player. Sometimes, it gives hints if you go without dealing damage long enough, but it's never outright said what to do, and it's not like a hint box pops up either - it comes entirely from character dialogue.

Although i am gushing a bit here, I will say that the game's not too hard. It's more of a puzzle platformer game, with less focus on combat. This doesn't bother me personally, though.

I can't recommend it enough.

I've played this game for 1500+ hours, and I still suck at it.

And I love it.
