I can't reconmmend this. The game is obviously chugging along, and it's not like the game is graphically intense. Secondly, it says it has full controller support, but in the options it simply lists buttons as: 1, 2, 3, etc. Lazy devs. The tutorial is not helpful at all. The game is abandoned as well. Which isn't a negative in itself, but the game clearly needs some polish.

This game is pretty interesting, but damn is it hard. It would have been nice if it tried to explain the logic to solving the puzzles. The difficulty curve is nuts, too. I tried and got stuck on level 3.

Do you see that nice intro video up top? It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lie. In the game, while the announcer is talking you get to run left or right until he is done boring you to death, and not letting you play the damn game. Horrible. The text boxes are blurry and hard to read. I regret giving my friend the free copy.

I love picross games. This game scratches an itch I have for both logic and casual gameplay. There is a lot of workshop content that is worth doing. The devs even came out with free bonus content during the USA American election 2016. I am especially pleased that they went back and "fixed" some puzzles that could only be completed through guessing. Now, all puzzles are guess free! There are options to change the division lines from 4x4 or 5x5. There is a quick fix and a hard mode. It is definitely worth full price.

It's taking up more than a gig on my harddrive, but it's less than 5 minutes long. The first half is Saturn (?) slowly coming towards you. The second half? Just look at the pictures above. It's faster than watching it.

It's dumb and stupid, and using VR to tell the story is pointless, as it adds nothing to the experience. It would have been fine if I had watched it along with all those short cat videos on youtube.

I do not recommend this game. It is a grindfest. Money is scarce, and items are way too expensive.

Canyon Capers is the spiritual successor to the old DOS game of the same name. The game is a collect-athon and a platformer.

Pros:
-The graphics are updated and the characters move faster than from the original.
-There are secret snail pieces to find!
-The music is a bit country, but not that great.
-Interesting variations on the collecting gametype.
-The controls are very solid.
-Every jump is a flip jump.
-The difficulty curve is great.

Comparing the old game and the new game side by side, the difference is like night and day. Check out a let's play video of both. Same but different. Sadly, they both suffer from the items blending in with the background. Especially in this updated version, there is way to much going on to distinguish from baddie, goodie, and just pretty background.

The secret snail pieces are a cool side item. And getting them includes really searching the level. The problem is, I don't know what levels have them. Is it all, or only some?

The game types include: collect A (and B and c) to exit, find the exit and collect items on the way, bombs, and collect A to "feed" a god(s).

Cons:
-Bugs everywhere.
-Enemies respawn very rapidly. Almost pointless to kill them. It is important to note that jumping on enemies does not give a jump boost like in Mario. Enemy kills are very unsatisfying, as are kill combos.
-Scoring is complex.
-Some trial and error to figure out what does and doesn't kill you.
-Navigating the menu system is painfully slow.
-Most levels are very linear. Once you know where the exit is, there is only one way to go to get the best score. Even not knowing where the exit is, you will sometimes go the wrong way.
-Dying is immensely painful.
-Too much waiting for obstacles to move
-Too much unavoidable death or damage.

A few examples of the bugs I have encountered:
-Sometimes jumps kill enemies, sometimes not. I have jumped up into an enemy (it should hurt you, one would think, right?) and it seems to be fifty fifty on who will win.
- I completed a level, then went back to 100% it. But suddenly a jump to the exit was literally impossible. But it was the only way to get to the exit! I tried to make the jump until the time ran out, but could not make it. So I restarted the game, did the level again, and suddenly I could do the jump again, and repeatedly.
-Wyatt is unlocked and locked at the same time. I can access this character, and play as this character, but on the character select screen, the lock symbol is still covering their picture. I have no idea what his special is. There is also no explanation on how to unlock characters. This makes unlocks no fun. Number of stars? Worlds beaten?

At the end of each level, you are presented with a score screen. You get a bonus for extra time, life, and collecting items. But then there are medals... with stars around them sometimes... and they aren't explained at all. Three of them are easy: gems, coins, and chests. But the stars around them... Is it percentage, or that is how many there are in the level? And then there is the secret snail piece medal. Instead of being for one level, it shows the progress for ALL levels at the same time. And there's a thumbs up medal. I have no idea what that means. But the whole game system is based on score to unlock stars and the next world. It should be explained.

I could go on. The game has some interesting ideas, but it really needs to flesh them out. It feels amateurish, but with some polish, it could be pretty awesome.

This game is so simple and fun! It is my go to game when I have a few minutes of down time. The basic premise is to make the boxes with the line behind you without getting hit. The hardest difficulty is intense. If it's on sale, get it! It has an updated version of the first game in it as well. It's practically two for the price of one!
