This is a recommendation ONLY if you agree to seven or more of the following list.
This is a maybe ONLY if you agree to less than seven but more than four.
On less than four, it's a hard pass, it's not a recommendation. The list is:

- You have a high tolerance for janky gameplay. Not outright bugs (like going through walls or glitches), just a metric ton of jank.
- You are a fan of Tsutomu Nihei's work. A BIG fan.
- You enjoy immersing yourself in game worlds, allowing your imagination to fill in the gaps instead of seeing said gaps as flaws.
- You place a lot of value in atmosphere. It has to be a lot.
- You have patience for games that are more than obscure in terms of explanation or tutorials.
- You are resilient enough to face constant RNG odds, barely mitigated by skill. Mind you, skill will carry you, but jank will often get in the way between your skill and its ability to mitigate said RNG. This is not a random chance game, but jank means anything can happen.
- You have a good sense of orientation.
- You are understanding of what a small team (three people!) with more ambition than technical prowess can achieve.
- You have enjoyed E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy or NaissanceE.
- You feel like a journey can be enjoyable in and on itself, instead of only finding catharsis in the resolution.

I, who wrote the list, agree to all ten. So, I can say that this is a great game, FOR ME. I am profoundly aware of the myriad flaws, the bucketloads of jank, the all-over-the-place textures, the very basic yet somewhat frustrating combat, the long, uneventful stretches, and the dreadful platforming.

But in this game I've also found one of the most unique atmospheres I've played, deeply enjoyable soundtrack, a constant sense of wonder, a surprisingly consistent challenge (that is, it's very hard, but never so much that you're stuck for hours at a time in a boss), a sprawling world that gets even bigger inside your head, capable voice acting, and a plethora of cool ideas (some better executed than others, but none so badly executed it actively hinders the game), and what is evidently, a very passionate small team of developers that had very specific strengths and very evident weaknesses, and here they are laid bare for all to see.

So, follow the list. If you don't agree to at the very least half of it, this game isn't for you, and that is absolutely fine. This game demands too much from its players, and I don't mean it in a stupid "git gud" way. I mean it in a "this is a game that only people that are a little weird with niche tastes might like" way. No judgment, no arrogance. This is a game that you either love from the start, no prejudice, or you will never enjoy. Arguably, that doesn't make a great game, but for those of us attuned to the particular things this game does very well, there's a lot of satisfaction to be found.

If you're not, believe me, every single negative critique is true. But the list isn't there for them. The list is there to let those who might enjoy it, know they might.
