Preface this review: Neverwinter Knights was a game that a I bought at gamestop on a whim in a discount pile about 7 years ago, it was one of those thick multi CD packs wth the expansion pack with 8 CDs and it included the hordes of the underdark expansion. One of the best and hardest games i've ever played. Fast forward a few years and Between baulders gate, NwK, dragon age, and even dungeon siege I and II, (DS3 was an embarressmant to the franchise). the semi turn based DnD like rules worked, and the sequels to these games in my opinion fell short.
This is not a game that you can progress quickly, without reading the dialogues you will find yourself vastly outleveled by simply clearing out zones and trying to progress as quickly as possible. DOS follows its own rules to the very end it will never hold your hand, reading every dialouge can be extremely rewarding and most of the time necessary.
I loved this game, sometimes it feels like a person who was on too many drugs wrote the majority of the dialogue but it adds to the charm, there is no real indication as to what is important and what's not in relevance to the information, everyting is voiced and this game absolutly follows it's own rules until the very end.
TLDR: Here's a pros and cons
Pros:
You can kill anything
RPG elements are vital to understanding each (and there are a f*** ton) puzzle and quest
Terrain and usage of elements can swing a battle, (Tactics are absolutly necessary and the use of the autosave is extremely encourgaged.)
Does not hold your hand
HARD, every combat, even on normal, may be a wipe for your party *Bind autosave/load to a hotkey, you'll be using it a lot. (I consider this a pro)
Satisfying combat: setting up an ambush or examining an enemy to understand its weaknesses feels rewarding because charging in to a situation usually ends up in a wipe and a reload, and planning, understanding, and excecuting an attack feels very rewardig
Co-Op Feels extremely natural, (I would highly recommend it, endless laughs and blunders to be had)
Single player does not take away from the experience, *though co-op would be higly recommended )

Cons:
You can kill anything
Game doesn't hold your hand
STAIRS
Sneaking seems unrefined
Not enough cheese

5/7 best game i've played in a long time, not even a fan of most turn based RPGs
