I want to start by saying that I hate "Soulslike" games. For those unfamiliar, a "Soulslike" game is a challenging experience with punishing difficulty, methodical combat, and a significant emphasis on player skill and patience. While playing Dark Souls & Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, I found the "beating my head against the wall" gameplay to be miserable. I understood that there was the element of "getting good", but I just didn’t feel that it was worth the time investment in those games. Going into Another Crab's Treasure, I knew that the game would be like this, but after watching it grow and be developed through the developer’s social media, how could I not give it a chance? And I'm so glad I did.

Unlike other Soulslike games, I actually felt that the large majority of deaths were due to my own actions and not due to avoidable garbage. Learning the different battles and vanquishing the scourges of the ocean felt like a challenge I knew I could conquer! This game's combat also provides some nice complexity, where you can wear a variety of shells that all have different levels of protection and abilities. From healing myself in a pill bottle to rolling into my foes as a tennis ball, it really lets you play in a way that suits your playstyle! My favorite shell being said pill bottle since it could heal without losing my finite healing supplies. That is to say the learning curve on the gameplay isn’t all that brutal. You will die time and time again while you learn how the gameplay works. During this time you’ll find what shells work best for you and give you a chance to try new combinations of abilities waiting to be explored!

Besides the combat/gameplay, the world itself is a gem to explore! Hidden upgrades around every corner (if you choose to adventure) can be found, allowing you to continuously improve your character's abilities/stats. The game also has an amazing art style, ensuring that wherever you are you’ll be treated with great visuals! I particularly loved the details on debris you encounter on the adventure. If you read the various debris you'll find around the map, it's an absolute ride we don't deserve. For example, seeing ‘the snack that smiles’ back with a glock made me crack up! Besides the scenic comedy, the landscapes are actually really well-designed and feel so alive! It makes traveling through these locations a real treat on your journey through the ocean!
Also, I want to make sure I point out that the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal! Whether I'm walking around or fighting a boss, I was able to groove out to this game's awesome music while doing so! It’s not just someone banging on the organ for every single piece; rather they feel more action-packed! It really adds to the boss battling experience! Needed to make sure I mentioned that before moving on.

I won't go too much into the story since I'd rather you explore it on your own. But I will say this game has some pretty decent lore that I was not expecting from the crab with a gun game. The game threw me for a pretty unexpected loop towards the end, making me all that more determined to see the story through! As your story unfolds, you'll find yourself surrounded by a colorful cast of characters. I always enjoyed the conversations with the characters and seeing how they developed alongside our journey felt pretty good overall!

In short, this game is literally a treasure with its colorful cast of characters, fantastic combat gameplay, and a story that has some really surprising depth! It reminded me a lot of "A Hat in Time" where the world oozes with life and shows that the developers really put the hours in to make it a game worth its full price tag. Is this game perfect? No. There are still some bugs that need to be worked out, especially with the final boss as they had an issue with clipping into the void , and a few minor gameplay tweaks I'd love to see. Overall, it was a phenomenal gaming experience that makes me eager to dive back in, making it an easy 9/10 for me!

tl;dr Another Crab's Treasure" defies typical Soulslike frustrations by offering a well-balanced challenge that rewards skill and patience. With its innovative combat system, beautiful visuals, and captivating soundtrack, the game invites players into a lively underwater world ripe for exploration. Humorous elements and unexpected story twists enrich the experience, making it stand out in the genre. Despite some minor bugs and minor gameplay tweaks, the game delivers a fulfilling adventure, earning a well-deserved 9/10 for its engaging mechanics and charming narrative. (Auto-genned tl;dr)

I saw this game as a teen back in 2016 and thought "WOW, Quantum Break (QB) is going to be the ♥♥♥♥!" Finally picked it up on a Steam sale within the last few years and wanted to try it out. After completing the game 100%, I can confidently say that the game was an overall mediocre experience.

This is one of those times Steam really needs a middle ground option since this game is just... okay all around. I will say I felt disappointed with QB as it provides an interesting perspective on manipulating time, which while cool, felt as if there was so much more they could have done with it. Besides that, this game is plagued by really average gun play crammed into it. Certain battles become a chore to complete rather than really wanting to progress the game. This is especially true in a few of the "boss" battles that are made harder by the game's gun play.

The story on the other hand is actually pretty alright. Nothing really outstanding in any department, but I did enjoy it overall. The biggest problem with this game from a story perspective is that its pacing is bizarre. After you complete an Act (of which there are five total) you are greeted with a full-length live action show that pieces together stuff happening off screen that's still good to know. However I found that these were just really boring and stopped me from actually playing the game. I ended up just skipping these and had a much more cohesive experience.

In conclusion, this game feels like a 2016 game. The graphics, the game play (including the worst checkpoints I've ever seen in any video game), and the story all feel pretty dated. If you buy this, you'll end up playing it through one time and will never touch it again. Nothing wrong with that, but there are better games to spend your money on. Also, to touch on the graphics a bit more, the highest the game naively goes to is 1080p. On your PC, go to %AppData% -> Local -> QuantumBreak and open up the "renderer" file with notepad. You can change your aspect ratio to something higher. I played it through changing it to 1440p with any issues. Hope this review was able to help someone, and if you've read this far, thank you! If you decide to take the plunge, I wish you all the best in your time travel adventures!

Absolutely one of the best investigation games I've ever played! Interesting mystery, unique characters, well hidden secrets, and a story that continued to grow and grow with every passing discovery! If you like a good soundtrack, amazing writing, and an interesting mystery, this game is what you've been waiting for! Cannot recommend this game enough!

An asymmetrical multiplayer horror game that's a ton of fun! It'll take some time to get used to the gameplay and mindset for select roles, but it definitely is worth it! Being able to hide in lockers and meme on killers is the best part of the game to me! It's a ton of fun alone, but with friends its even better!! The game though still has a few annoying bugs and the balance tends to jump around with certain perks. The DLC is also a huge money sink. 8/10 for me. If you buy it, happy killin' (or survivin')! ;)

For anyone who is having a problem finding the Sountrack, you need to go to your game's files and it will be there. He's a picture to help! https://gyazo.com/d5f3ae302ccfdba7f78510191009d414 The start of your path will probably be "Program Files" and then the rest is exactly the same!

Amazing Soundtrack! I loved every second of it! From King Dice's awesome theme to some of the best background themes I have heard in a long while!! Cannot recommend this enough!

I bought this game on sale a while back but never played it. Looking through my library I saw it and wondered, "Hmm, how can this be a game, it looks like a text adventure". This game is probably one of the best games I have played in a long while. The game itself seems overwhelming at first, but as you play it will become a lot easier to understand. You will also find that this game is vastly replayable. I only plaued twice but I had a completely different adventure when I tried doing the same thing! This game is fantastic!! 10/10 Would become a queen again.
