updating my review to positive after Sony finally folded and is allowing us to play the game without account linking. its frustrating how it all went down, but the game itself is good

CS2 is still Counter Strike, but its currently a downgrade from CS:GO.

CS2 is to CS:GO, as Overwatch 2 is to Overwatch.
This is not a sequel, its a patch and not all is positive.

Since Valve removed CS:GO from steam and re-use the CS:GO's store page (probably to avoid what happened with OW2's steam reviews, that's why there's 7.6M reviews and the release date says Aug. 2012) I would expect feature parity between CS:GO and CS2, but its not there.

CS2:
-Removed all CS:GO Steam Achievements
-Killed community servers
-Has no Danger Zone
-Has no War Games (Arms Race, Demolition, Flying Scouts, Retakes)
-Is missing competitive maps (where Cache?)

but the skins ported over... so there is that.

Sub-tick Servers:
I see what they were trying to do, and the solution makes sense. But its not good enough, and definitely does not feel as good as simple 128 tick servers.
As implemented it currently feels like there is a noticeable difference between whats happening client-side vs server-side, and often results in feeling like you're getting "interp'd." In other words, you die as a result of a server calculation, not what you're seeing/reacting to on screen. Valve is standing their ground on "64 tick is good enough" but I've played 128 tick and now experienced their "64 tick with sub-tick system," and I firmly disagree with Valve.

So while the competitive MM is still more or less the same, Premier ranking is actually pretty cool tbh, I'm giving it a thumbs-down til they reach feature parity at minimum...

Baldurs Gate 3 is not everyone's cup of tea. However Larian Studios have created a game with a massive scope, and executed on the vision and design perfectly. BG3 is a strong contender for GOTY in a year full of bangers. Not only that but it breathes a breath, no an entire hurricane, of fresh air back into the gaming industry with its monetization and feature completeness. A single box price for a massive game, that actually functions.
I must be dreaming.
