So picture the following: Blizzard comes out with an incredibly fun team-based game that's a mix of a MOBA and an FPS game and all is mostly well for a while. That was Overwatch. We can talk about some of the bad decisions that were made during Overwatch 1 era but that's not what this review is about. They start doing events that include PvE story missions which were cool but the engine of Overwatch doesn't support them and they're having to creatively make them around the limitations of said engine, which is holding them back from delivering the content they want to truly make. Their solution was to come up with a new engine that would fully support what they wanted to do with the PvE content they were adding to the game. Somewhere along the lines of doing all this they became very ambitious and started making a huge PvE update. It apparently got so big that it warranted its own game, the same way Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom started off as a DLC for Breath of the Wild but then got so expansive they just made a new game out of their ideas.

From that, Overwatch 2 is announced, and a huge deal is made out of the amazing PvE story campaign content that will be coming with its launch. They even made a follow-up cinematic to the game's original introductory cinematic that progressed the plot a little to support this. Don't worry, you can still play the PvP content and it'll be exactly as it was in Overwatch 1, which makes some of the community question why they couldn't just update the original Overwatch with all this or make some kind of expansion pack DLC you could buy for the original game with an updated engine, but okay, cool, we're still on board. Then come the delays, and people start making fun of how the art style changes to Overwatch 2 doesn't really add anything new. It's the exact same game. Streamers then get their hands on a prerelease version of Overwatch 2 without the PvE content and everyone makes fun of how it's EXACTLY like the original Overwatch. "What was the point?" they said. It's the exact same game. Blizzard responds by going "Guys, don't worry, the AMAZING PvE story campaign will be there alongside the classic Overwatch PvP at launch. It's just not out the oven yet."

They then go ahead and release Overwatch 2 without the AMAZINGLY PROMISED™ PvE content, and a predatory battlepass system, shutting down access to the original game in the process. Now the people that play Overwatch have to play a more nefarious version of it with a new engine and art style that isn't all that different from the original. People are angry - "Where is the PvE campaign you hyped up for SEVERAL. YEARS.". Blizzard responds by once again saying that the PvE content is delayed, is being worked on, and will be released in a future huge update.

They then pulled the plug on releasing this PvE content for Overwatch 2, a game that took two years and an extensive marketing campaign hyping the PvE campaign up to make an similar copy of the original Overwatch. Two years to make Overwatch again. You cannot make this up. You might suspect that Blizzard Entertainment is a front for a Mexican drug cartel money laundering scheme at this point because it's so bonkers, in the same way people look at modern art and go "Why do people like this?".

Two years to make Overwatch again with no real benefit to the player. Now they're starting to release this AMAZINGLY PROMISED™ PvE content but you have to pay a good amount of money for it.

This is what the review bombing it about. This is what this review is about. Blizzard's absurd decision-making is so mindbogglingly stupid or intentionally evil.
