Hi LSG, my friend and I have been playing AoW for years and love it but everytime we try to boot it up it's a different problem! Finally took the plunge and bought HT on steam today (already own hardcopy but never works!) and am trying to get it working now. Seeing as you seem to be the guru (and your advice has already solved my runtime error) I'm hoping you can help with the negative memory issue too. You mention a directx patch somewhere here in your comments? I already downloaded the d3d9.dll and have set to vistasp1 compatability. If I DO ru n as admin I get a Steam 'app already running' error and if I DON'T I get the 'unlock AOW' error followed by negative memory etc... Sorry for long post, delete once you've read it and please help me if you possibly can! I've sent friend request already. Cheers, Tim (UK)

There is no fix for Direct Action. Only High Treason......FYI.

I did what you said for act of war direct action and still doesnt work if you could message me and help that would be great.

@Die Hardly friend request sent. It requires a Direct X patch that a developer that we all worked with got fixed for us. The patch is a mask for one of the files that exists in the directory. The issue was memory the way it was being read in a direct X call. In otherwords it was Atari's fault it happened in the first place and a code error.

Sadly, no not yet, still working on it, I may uninstall the game (and everything I've done to "fix" it) and start from zero.

All the Act of War HIgh Treason Proxy DLL works. IF you need a link to download it please message me on here and Ill make it available on a case by case basis. ITs running for me on 3 gig 660Ti no more memory errors!!!

Hey how are you doing? Saw your post on how to fix AoW, and though I'm sure it worked for some, it didn't gor me, I followed all the CFF instructions to the T, but perhaps I forgot something? I do apologize for intruding, but I LOVE this game and Steam Support and Atari is non-existant for this title.

Folks ATARI HAS BANKRUPTED. Im sorry but there is no hope for Act of War HIGH TREASON or DIRECT ACTION support from ATARI. Unless someone can make the proxy dlls that will work with both games the games are just dead. Im sorry I tried my best. BUt since ATARI HAS BK'd STEAM needs to pull the titles from being sold as they are broken.
