KAMGUSTA's mini Review

A solid cabinet-style arcade/shoot-em-up with only 2 platforms to move from/to. Super polished and cool to play. You can play the "Classic" or the "Remixed" (aka remastered) version. Keep in mind the playtime is very short, less than 1 hour, but you have to get that far, and it isn't an easy task! The soundtrack is just awesome and a perfect fit for the gameplay.

KAMGUSTA's mini Review

A Dead Cells wannabe (action/platformer/roguelike) with a less polished gameplay and a lot less to do. Fun for a couple hours, not more. Repeating.

Oddly satisfying. But the cancel culture / woke movement / climate propaganda reached even this far with motors lawners that have been replaced with electric ones, less powerful and more annoying to use.

KAMGUSTA's mini Review

A fun arcade racing simulator. Choose to be a cop or a racer (switch between them whenever you want) and advance in your career. Cars drive beautifully. Graphic is great, very scenographic, albeit there is a 30 FPS lock and it's not so much configurable. Should I add more? You can equip powerups (EMP shot, sonic blast, call for reinforcements, etc.). It was a great game in 2013 and it still stands out in 2024.
A true Need for Speed game.

KAMGUSTA's mini Review

It's a clone of the more famous bullet hell game Vampire Survivors. It lacks balancing, replayability and depth. Lack also of weapons / skills means the combinations you are to use are almost always the same. It's not gonna take the top spots, good only for a couple hours of fun.

KAMGUSTA's mini Review

As of 2024 (8 years after its release...) I still can't recommend it, due to its broken status:
- problems with proper gamepad support, even if it is listed as "fully compatible", seems like it recognizes them as steering wheels (!);
- no offline mode, even if the servers are gonna shut down very soon;
- you cannot skip the lenghty and often boring cutscenes;
- controls and physics of the cars are quite bad.

KAMGUSTA's mini Review

Before talking about the game, I'd like to summarize the Earth Defense Force franchise games you can find here on STEAM. All of them are third-person shooter where you have to kill seemly endless hordes of giant insects and skyscaper-sized mechanized aliens with different weapons and with only the help of some trusty teammates. Sounds familiar? Many games tried to copy this winning formula, which dates back to the 1997's cult movie "Starship Trooper".
EDF 5 is an enhanced version of EDF 4.1, they both are the "top of the line", great controls, good graphics, nice and smooth gameplay, TON of enemies, exaggerated humor and lot of combinations character / weapon to choose from.
EDF World Brothers is a different take on the gameplay - still fun - but with a more "arcade" playstyle and a LEGO / Minecraft look, aimed at a younger / more casual audience.
EDF Insect Armageddon is the oldest one, a spin-off of EDF 3 made mostly for the western audience (it has a more "serious" look and there is less humour) but it feels antiquated and unpolished by 2024's standards.
And EDF Iron Rain? It's a spin-off made not by the same developers of the original, still aimed at the western audience, so more "serious" - all considered, the spiritual successor of Insect Armageddon.
It's not a bad game, graphic is good, there is split screen co-op, you can fully customize your characters (albeit you can't change it anymore), but... it doesn't have the winning formula (and the creators' hand) of EDF games; ultimately, it's not as fun as the "real" ones. Go play 4.1, 5 and, soon, 6, instead.

It's a simple "spot the differences" game with only 10 pictures. It'll last just a couple hours and it's worth no more than 0,5$.

KAMGUSTA's mini Review

All the problems this game has are due to lack of skills from the (very amateur) developers, with the (almost) inexplicable and (somewhat) good sales of the game that got at their head:
- Bad community. FULL OF CHEATERS. This is because developers are UNABLE to create a working anti-cheat, they just try to hide the problem.
- Bad moderation. You get PERMABANNED at developers' will, even only for posting bad reviews (like this one) or pointing out on forums the problems the game has.
- Bad programming. Developers' fixes result in something else breaking. After all this time, the game is still in a beta status, with bugs, random crashes and bad hardware support.
- Bad balancing. Game is a mess, a random slaughtering where everyone tries to exploit it.
- Bad users/developers relationship. Developers add what they like and not what players require/want.
- Bad pricing. Too high for what it's offered. The greedy developers are also costantly trying to get money out of you.

WORST OF ALL, on April 2024 one of the best player and content creators for this game (RIP Dave) has been drove on taking his own life (!); to know more, watch "When games kill - The tragedy of Chivalry 2".

So DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES AND STAY AWAY FROM THESE UN-ETHICAL AND GREEDY DEVELOPERS.

There are great alternatives out there, as "For Honor", "Mordhau", "Battle Charge", WAY BETTER than Chivalry in EVERY WAY.

KAMGUSTA's mini Review

Sadly, it's a broken game. Developers released it and abandoned it after just 1 week. I encountered more than a couple bugs and game also crashed. Some polishing is missing. Game mechanics are not well executed and parts of the game seem entirely missing. Story lasts only about 3/4 hours.
The game is a pretty standard 3D arcade / adventure, with a twist: you play as an alchemist instead of the usual warrior, so be ready to get herbs and prepare potions.
Buy it only if on massive discount.
