Changing my recommendation, after getting stuck doing the same boring platform rooms over and over. I am at the point that I need to progress pretty far, in order to get another upgrade, and I seem unable to do it. The gameplay is just not that fun, the game world is totally bland, and the random character abilities are silly. I keep trying the game again, but I forget how frustrating it is to get shot from off the screen, to get swarmed by monsters passing through walls, or to drop onto a spike that I couldn't see. I realize now that I have playing just hoping that the upgrades would let me see a better part of the game, but I have not seen anything that makes it worth the wait.

Update #2: I have been playing Mana Spark, and I have been really enjoying that one a lot more. Rogue Legacy forces you to lose all upgrade coins left-over, which means if you cannot buy anything, then you lose all your coins. Mana Spark at least lets you keep them. The game will eventually let you advance, through upgrades.

I was reminded about how frustrating it was to play Rogue Legacy. Even though my review has fallen down the well of obscurity, because I changed it to a negative, I still wanted to come back and give this game another kick in the groin. The game seems especially designed to give a few hours of upgrading gameplay, then come to a screeching halt, when players are not capable of handling its random-death gameplay.
