Flyn is an absolutely gorgeous 2d platformer that includes some elements of exploration as well as slight hints of puzzling. You can get further abilities the more you progress in the game, which varies your gameplay experience, while you can also revisit older levels for 100% completion. The music enhances the relaxed atmosphere of the game and its art style should be envied by accomplished titles.

The reason I do not recommend it for the average player is that I have found the difficulty level growing significantly, relatively early in the game, with no option whatsoever to adjust it for a smoother experience. This is a great shame for not so skilled players, who can miss the majority of the beautiful worlds portrayed in Flyn, and turn their experience frustrating instead of relaxing. Would definitely recommend it though, if your platforming skills are above average, or you like a hard challenge. Take my review as a warning, with a grain of salt.

Monstromart, I would definitely love that option as well!

Jinx i agree with you but at the same time if you thumbs up the game and feel like some people might regret their purchase it's not better either. I think the problem is we can't give neutral ratings on Steam. I would like to be able to thumbs up, thumbs down or give a neutral rating on Steam. Often i can't decide between either thumbing up or down a game.

Thanks @Jinx, point taken, I will probably change it a bit, since the game is indeed worthwhile taking the difficulty factor aside

I think your review is informative - it's good to warm people about the difficulty - but it hardly merits not recommending the game. I also felt that while the game got hard, it had a pretty reasonable difficulty curve. *Of course* it starts out easier, that's how a game's difficulty curve is supposed to work...

Hehe, SMB is like super hardcore, I don't dare compare this to that. I feel like you underestimate your platformer skills a little, but also you are probably right that I don't have a lot of patience. If I need to do the same level 50 times, I will get super pissed of at 15 and rage quit. I'm pretty sure the difficulty curve is too steep on Flyn though, I used to be able to beat the levels without ragequitting until halfway into the green world... then it was ragequit after ragequit in every level!

Hey. I actually not very much of "platformer" guy, so I don't count my skills as "hardcore" or even "average", and that's the point. I'm not even able to finely finish SMB, and then I compare Fly'N and SMB, there's a gigantic hole in difficultly between them. One of the main reasons - system of checkpoints. Yet, even if at the beggining new control system may look kinda hard to handle, sooner or later you'll get used to it, as if you've been playing Portal and tried to get used to "think with portals" thing. It mostly same for me, so at my point - you just don't been patient enough, wishing that game gonna give you only fun and simple puzzles.
Difficultly increase goes pretty much fine - Yvok and Nyls gives additional mechanics, giving more tricks and more puzzles to think at. And they're harder to handle in compare with Flyn and Lyft. It's pretty much fine platformer, not "move left move right you win" thing.

I'm definitely worse than the average player at platformers, but flyn starts out nice and then slaps you in the face. I just wish there was an easy option for me to properly enjoy this, or at least present it as a difficult game so I can be warned and stay away from it. I did recommend it for people that can handle it if you read the whole thing of course.

Just admit it - you can't handle Lyft gameplay.
