This game is pretty cute and fun. It's very very simple and if you don't buy the DLC I'd say there's maybe a day of good gameplay. After that it does get repetitive very fast. The actual work on the house itself is pretty fun and immersive but then trying to add furniture and decor afterwards is pretty hollow considering there are barely any options for that. As much as I enjoyed this game I will say that it doesn't exactly feel complete.

My recommendation, buy the game when it's on sale if you think it's something you'd enjoy. It definitely isn't worth full price, there just isn't enough content. Still a pretty fun game though.

I write this review with a very heavy heart.
Emily is Away was one of my favorite games I've played in the past year or so. The story was unique and compelling, and brought an amazing sense of nostalgia and realism to playing the game that reflects highschool and college relationships in a brutally realistic way. The first game explored a relationship between the player and Emily, and their transition from highschool to college life and the reality of growing apart. No matter what choices you made or how you played the game, the player and Emily were going to grow apart. This was a major reflection on the situation that a lot of kids feel as they grow up. People grow apart and sometimes fairytale endings just don't exist no matter what you do to try and get one. It was a gorgeous story of adolescence and heartbreak, portrayed through the conversations of two teenagers over the nostalgic aol messanger.
Coming from the first game, I was so excited for Emily is Away 2. I was excited to explore the relationship of these two characters before they split and why it was so heartbreaking for the player to lose her in the first game. I was ready to have my already crushed heart burned and shred. But this game was absolutely not what I was waiting for. I bought this game soon after it came out, a tissue box by my side. However, what I got was a dating sim. Now some people may enjoy that type of game, but Emily is Away was so much more. The characters were deep and complex and the decisions you made never seemed to work out in the end, speaking on the true reality of highschool friendships. This entire theme and complexity was invalidated by this game. A new character is introduced as a romance option, and you can choose to flirt with her or Emily. Where the original game was meaningful and heartbreaking, this game was shallow and lost all meaning by turning Emily into a stereotypical highschool girl that could be swayed by a kind word. This is not the truth of the world. The first game was so successful because of the inevitable truth that it portrayed. That truth is lost in this game. I wish I had never bought it, as all of the beauty of the first game was washed away by this superficial dating sim.

This is probably one of the most captivating and breathtaking games I have ever played. Every character is so detailed and complex and thoroughly thought out and every route had me on the edge of my seat as I played. I cried for the first time in a while over a game and felt hollow and incomplete when I finished it completely and got all the achievements. I wanted so much more. I'm crying again just writing this as I know now that it's over and I've experienced this game in its entirety. If you're considering getting this game there is literally NO reason not to. I haven't left my computer in two days this game had me pulled in from the prologue. And what's even better? Its F R E E. FREE. free. FrEe. Please get this game. It's honestly a masterpeice in its own right and will have you completely enraptured before you even reach chapter two.

Never have I encountered a game in my life like Dragon Age Origins. Its story is so compelling I go to sleep at night dreaming of it, imagining myself as a part of it, wanting (needing) to experience it for myself. This is the truest and most amazing RPG I have ever played. Your. Decisions. Matter. Do you make the ultimate sacrifice in the end or complete a dark ritual instead? Do you go through a series of mind bending tasks to save a young boy or let him die for the good of Ferelden? Do you play as a ruthless warrior or a sweet and caring savior? The choices are up to you and boy the game has such an incredible way of making them matter. This is my favorite game of all time and I don't say that lightly. After completing the game you are able to sit back and watch how your decisions affected people after the course of the game and wow do you feel like you made a difference. This game is consuming and the relationships between you and your companions are so deep and meaningful. I love this game and it's the best that Bioware has ever done.

Even full price, you must buy this game. Play all the way through, the biggest decisions come later in the game. And by all means, make those decisions count for something.

Buy the game

Manchildren walking the streets. Strange aliens telling you how to play the game. An intro that still confuses me. And a house that has no doors but is the home of a major character? Makes no sense, is really quite creepy, still don't even know how to play, but somehow is still kinda cool. Worth the buy.

The steps of playing XCOM
1. buy the game
2. open the game
3. spend 4 days hand crafting your soldiers from name to armor tint
4. send those soldiers out to battle
5. cry for 18 years after losing soldiers that you have come to consider children
6. buy new soldiers
7. repeat steps 3-6

10/10 am still crying ;')
