Orcs Must Die is a drama of apocalyptic dimensions. You’ll run around killing them with a mixture of clever traps and third person shooting but this tower defense game is really the story of the poor Orcs that you decimate. Every Orc’s story is told with a hallucinatory intensity, whether they were tossed off a cliff by a spring, slowed by tar before being perforated by poison arrows, burned to a crisp by ground based fire traps, or stabbed to death by the merciless protagonist. Orcs may not be real, but their trials and tribulations have taught me more about the fragility and splendor that we call life.

I can’t express how transformative this masterpiece is. Let’s be clear, it’s not just a masterpiece of the tower defense genre, but of humanity itself. Orcs must die has turned me into a better person. As a result of this game I’ve decided to clean up my act. I will no longer leave spike traps on the floor lest my future offspring trigger them. Also, I will try being friendly with strangers rather than freezing and shattering them.
