If you are thinking to start MWO now it is maybe too late. It lost like 90% of it's player base. For a good reason. The developers are not really changing, improving in the game. Some of the original promises were not fulfilled, or at least just partly.
On the other hand, with no expectations in mind, you might just have a good time here. Noobs (sorry, well I'm counted as one after 3 years of hiatus) are gone, trolls are mostly gone, competitive *sshats are also gone. Who remained are really the most loyal players, who still support the game and are mostly helpful. Prepare for long waiting times, for an old and unoptimized game engine, but also for real mech action if the matchmaker could finally collect 15 mechwarriors from somewhere (from PGI's basement probably).
The only flow of the game really is that the guns are way too accurate. In Battletech, both in the tabletop and the other more recent game, randomness is a really big factor: if the gun hits or not, and if it hits, where it hits, etc. Here you aim, fire and hit. Because of this it feels like your 100-ton Atlas is made of a 100 tons of paper...

To sum up this, after playing various Mechwarrior games in the last 20 years I can honestly say that MWO could have been something really great and awesome. Now it is just a slowly dying game. Hurry if you still want to have some mech action. Let's hope MW5 will be a more successful story.

Well, ok, Heroes III is da best TBS, yeah I know but I do not agree and if you lost interest in my review you should not continue reading this. ;)

Well, Age of Wonders was not a big hit back in the days in Hungary. Most guys already played HoMM II or III, so they were kinda occupied. I was not as I was a fresh gamer myself with my first PC. In addition I loved fantasy, read a lot of books and had fun discovering LotR. And one day I got a demo of this game with a magazine. In the demo there was only 2 maps: First Conflict and the tutorial. I was playing this game of hours, over and over again. Playing the same map with the 4 different factions again, and again. Saying to myself: look, orcs, halflings, elves...just in LotR, and the magic happened! :)
When I finally got the full version I did not stop playing this game for months. Imagine a fantasy TBS game with 12 different factions, some are friends, some are not, some just does no care about the others, while others are keeping the possibilities to change sides, if.... Each of these factions had at least 8-10 unique units to unlock and to play with in a beautiful fantasy environment. The whole story is so fascinating that I would still buy if someone would have the time to write a book from it. The music there was not recorded by a big orchestra but it is so pulling you in to the world of AoW that you loose reality and suddenly you fight for Julia on Keepers side, or for Meandor on the side of the Cult of Storm...
Clearly an exciting story telling, beautiful fantasy world, lots of factions and units and one of the best TBS experience ever made. One of my favourite games of all time...:)

How to describe why Oblivion is that good? Maybe two things I have in mind.

1: When we all played the game with my friends we did no discussed that how one of us could beat that level or kill that enemy. No, we spoke about how each of us could play this game because it allowed us to do so! Endless varieties, huge amount of side quests and a living environment Tamriel is and you just forget to eat for hours because you just had an apple...wait a minute! :D

2: Imagine the situation which is known by every gamer ever. Its 3 am in the morning, and you have to go to work/college/whatever tomorrow. And you are on your way to next city to spend the night on your horse' back. But well...there is a mine...
- Its a mine...hm, what treasures are hinding in the shadows, behind the cursed skeleton warriors?
- Nope, its already late, first thing tomorrow.
- But there are maybe some new armor or weapons there, as I am about gain a level.
- No, tomorrow will be a great thing to start playing with gaining a level!
- But I have my to do list in my mind who to visit in the city, so to update the side quests, and my inventory is empty...****, I am going in!
True story? Yes, it is! :D

If we arrive to RTS in space this game put the bar quite high. As high as I could not find any games since 1999 which was this awesome in guiding destroyer class ships in space and bunch of others and hundreds of fighters and bombers and... I could just go on and go on about this masterpiece. State of the art technological achievement this was back in the days and the atmosphere it has was/is totally mind blowing.
The second episode expanded the first one with additional features and ways the game could be played. Though became a little more difficult to defeat the enemy. The 3D space environment is stunning and now that the whole thing was remastered its even more beautiful. However, I would recommend to play the old one, cause this game will show you that graphics is not everything.

If I am asked which is the only fast paced shooter I would play again and again I am not thinking too much on the answer. Well, the only game is UT, definitely. This game will be played 10 years from now and maybe another 10 years also, who knows. One of the best arena type shooter of all time.
Lots of lots of weapons and really dynamic fast paced action what this is. And the best of all? You really think you are in a tournament and need to test yourself in different situations in the different game modes and kill everybody without mercy. :)
One of the best games ever released and never gets old, for sure.

I read somewhere that this game is the biggest waste of money and it is true.
The AI of the game is just horrible: if it cannot take over it will just crash with you immediately. Not to mention that rule system of the game: the developers just missed the point. The game will punish immediately by time punishment or invalid lap once you leave track, even if noone is around. If an NPC contacts you the player gets punished not the NPC. The team dispatcher does not tell if any rain is coming though it lets you change your tires to dry when the rain is already falling. Fun fact: I got punished because I left the track...TO THE PIT!!! :@

To summarize my opinion the developers should pay me for paying this piece of sh*t. F1 deserves a better game that means fun and entertainment not infinite raging after I got punished repeatedly.
