TLNR Version: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, buy the other version, the ultimate edition. This game is hands down fun and I would highly recommend it. Though buying the ultimate edition will make you way happier, and save you money. So this version is basely usless. (That's why there's sone mixed reviews, some people don't like that's there's a better version of this game now, wayforward should probably give it out free to half-genie hero owners, as it can be seen as greedly move)

After spenting 70 hours on this game I can see gaint flaws, but I still had a lot of fun. While I wouldn't say this is the best game out of the series, it's still good on it's own, and may be a great way for one to start on if you never played a shantae game before. (No Shantae game requires learning of the story) Half-Genie Hero is a light hearted cute Platfomer, that looks and sounds amazing. Where the last Shantae games do well in Story and Gameplay, this one does great in presentation. Here's a list of pros and cons.

  (While my problem is that it gets wayy to easy late in the game, other people had difficuly spikes. Most likely because they didn't backtrack, which is a common thing within Shantae games, which could also be seen as a con as the game doesn't let you know of this)

• Playtime (It's somewhat short without DLC)

Below I'll now briefly sum up my views on the dlc. (As I said you shouldn't buy any of these, as you can get them for less within the ultimate edition)

Pirate Queen's Quest:
Oh my god, I f***ing hate this mode, and it's priced at the highest out of the rest of the dlc. At first this mode just seems a bit lame and lazy, though after trying to 100% it, the flaws just stick out so bad. Wouldn't recommend.
Friends to the End:
I had a lot fun with this one, it feels new and the story and writing is BETTER then the main game, and it even makes fixes a bit of the main story. Would recommend.
Costume Pack:

• Beach Mode- The same game with a time limt, didn't find very fun.
  
• Ninja Mode- Not too different from the main game, but is fun, with a funny story.
  
• Officer Mode- Changes into a different game. I loved this mode. Liked it more then Mighty Switch Force (what it's based off)
  Overall it's 2 fun game modes within one dlc. Would recommend.

Like I said at the top this review, this game is now useless to buy on it's own, but I can't not recommend just because there's now a better version of it. 2 flaws I could say about the game is just how the DLCs were handled, and the playtime (main game without dlc), but the ultimate edition fixes both of them so yeah, just play that one already.

This game plays and acts like a Free To Play, but costs $30 . I would recommend buying this game maybe in a year or 2, when it has more content.

I loved everything about this game, but the fact it's $30 for like 60% of the game, then another $30 for the whole game is super sketchy, and that's not even counting the whole loot box thing it's got going on. It's not even a finish game. While I loved the whole game in general, it's greatest flaw is it's greed. I feel like it's price alone is the largest factor in the bad reviews, most players don't like feeling like they have been tricked, and the ones who have played the full $60, just payed for a game that's not finish

I'm only recommending the game, because it alone it's fun. It should be up to you if you want the Early Access game for $60, I do see a future for it.

Best game. Best. Ten outta ten. Ten tens. Tenten. Best. I like the part where I hated my life.

I have spent 68 days of my life playing this free to play shooter. And even though I could have spent that time doing things in my live that could have been "useful" I still don't regret finding it.
