Long story short: a great puzzle platformer!
Details:
The graphics style with its only two colors (black and white, and its mixing gray) is causing a very nice oppressive atmosphere. All animations are very detailed and smooth, in fact you can only see silhouettes. Depth is created with blur.
Level transitions are fluent, no loading screens, which creates a nostalgic feeling. You think you can always go back from where you came from. In Fact you can't, as some geographical obstacles block the way back.
Even though the main purpose of this game is to solve puzzles, which are using physics and differ in grade of difficulty, LIMBO also has a profound background story or at least events.
First you have to defend yourself against a spider, and cut of three of its legs. Then it's fleeing, but catches you later on a webbed floor. As you escape the spider is following you again, and you head it to a small village. The people are not delighted of course, as the spider is killing them. So they also try to kill you, in return you have to kill them. Afterwards you also manage to escape from the spider, which is so hurt, that only one leg is left. To get further, you have to tear out also the last leg, and use the spider's body.
Later you see that the people of the village are sometimes controlled by a worm, which causes them to walk into water and to drown. Again you have to use a dead body to complete your journey.
Several times you try to reach a girl, but you are led away by a worm or cannot reach her.

All these incidents are disturbing in some kind and thought-provoking.

It's a lot of fun to get all hidden eggs, and find the hidden level.
I completed the game on Linux, it was running perfect, even the XBox 360 controller rumbled.
