Novice Game 2

Since there was YET MORE interest in a newby game, I will be hosting one as well. Most of the rest of this is just copied from CoolStory's post. This game's purpose is to give SP players a taste of multiplayer experience and rid them of some bad SP habits like maxing province defence. I will be admining the game without participating in it to prevent bad lads from ruining the fun.

This game will be using two mods - Worthy Heroes and Sum1's Overhaul Mod (Summod). While WH simply provides new heroes, particularly for nations that don't have any, Sum1's mod significantly changes many spells and national units. While the intention of the mod is increasing the usefulness of many otherwise subpar summons and spells and improving the balance between nations, it is worth stressing that there ARE significant differences between games played with this mod and vanilla games. The full changelog can be found in the Readme that comes with the mod.

This is the game page on the hosting server. Links to the map and the mod we'll be using can be found there (move mod files to \AppData\Roaming\Dominions4\mods and map files to \SteamApps\common\Dominions4\maps).

To install the mods required for this game, follow the link for each of the mods to their respective download pages. Extract the files to your mods folder, so that the .dm file is in the mod folder directly and any image files are in a subfolder. If finding the file folder is proving difficult, you can also find your mods and maps folders by starting up Dominions and then selecting "Game Tools" and then "Open User Data Directory."

Aside from Summod, we'll be using game settings considered "default" for MP games. You can find them on the game settings page. Short version:

Early Age
Score graphs off
Research on Standard
Story events on (they're fun)
Renaming on (renaming your commanders is also fun)
Ascension points required for victory: 11
Number of level 1 thrones: 5
Number of level 2 thrones: 5
Everything else is on default for EA

This is a PBEM guide. Read if you don't know how to play by e-mail. Short version:

Create a pretender in game tools.
Send the *.2h pretender file from newlords folder in save game directory to pretenders@llamaserver.net with NoviceGameII in subject field from the e-mail you'll be using for this game (better make a dedicated PBEM mailbox, trust me).
Wait for the game to start.
Save the *.trn file in your save game directory inside a folder with the NoviceGameII name.
Select "Play Game" and do your turn.
Send the *.2h file created in the aforementioned NoviceGameII folder to turns@llamaserver.net (subject field or the actual message doesn't matter).

This is not an anonymous game, so don't forget to post the name of the nation you'll be playing in this thread to make diplomacy easier. Nations without a post will be deleted.

We'll start with 24 hours hosting interval and raise it after a first year or two. If for some reason you can't send your turn in time, PM me, and I'll give you an extension. Chainstaling (not sending your turns 2 times in a row without any communications) will result in you being set AI or replaced by another player.
