There’s even brand new support for shader cache in the steam client beta. ;-)
My question was rather why would SteamOS need it? all it's supposed to do is run steam and games and I doubt they are delivered via flatpak
Then you get support for different versions of the runtime for cheap and more robustness against underlying OS changes.
We have no plans to ever deliver Steam applications as flatpaks.
Thanks for clarifying, that does sound like a good plan. Would be great to have a Kodi flatpak so I wouldn't need custom repos potentially breaking SteamOS updates!
