ABOUT The Self Help Group for Videogame Quitters

Quit Playing Video Games FOREVER

Video games are without question one of the hardest and biggest obstacles to overcome when you first get involved in a journey of self-improvement.

I think we can all agree that they are also a major cause as to why you lack the skills necessary to attract women, network, and live the life you want to live, instead of the one where you feel stagnant procrastinating at home night after night.

When you have nothing else to do on a Friday night, what do you do? You play video games.

When you come home tired after working 9–5, what do you do? You play video games.

When you’re looking to just relax for a minute and kill some time, what do you do? You play video games.

And soon this turns into a major addiction, and one of the hardest ones to break.

I have heard that on one occasion the Buddha was staying near Vesali, in the Great Forest, and that at that time the monk Ananda was playing a game of Dark Souls. The Buddha saw what Ananda was doing and asked him what he was doing.

Ananda replied, "I am playing Dark Souls, lord."

The Buddha asked, "What is Dark Souls?"

Ananda explained, "Dark Souls is a game where you explore a dark and dangerous world, fighting deadly creatures and collecting powerful weapons and treasures."

The Buddha said, "Ananda, you should not be playing Dark Souls. It is a dangerous game that can lead you into trouble."

Ananda replied, "I know it is a dangerous game, lord, but I can't help myself. I love playing it."

The Buddha said, "Ananda, you must stop playing Dark Souls. It is not good for you."

Ananda said, "I will try, lord."

The Buddha said, "Ananda, you must promise me that you will stop playing Dark Souls."

Ananda promised the Buddha that he would stop playing Dark Souls.

A. LOG OFF - fuck modern dopamine addiction - if it was 1790 you'd come out of a 4 year school drawing, painting, speaking 5 languages and drinking laudanum. Your peers will be playing games, watching TV, browsing, doing art related shit that isn't practicing and getting false sense of accomplishment.

Very true, agree because that's also how life is ngl.

"You don’t need to be working/dating/creating wealth. You know very well that it is an acute waste of time. It leads to nothing in the end, like masturbation. That is not to say everything you do should have some profound quality to it, or that you must always be working towards something. But slaving at a low wage job for 25% (and in most cases even more) of your life are like sitting in the pachinko hall without any type of payout. You’re just left feeling empty. You don’t need that, and you know it. "
